"But it is for public good" or "It is good for people." It might be, but the analysis behind those statements goes very far, and quickly stating these things make a lot of INTP's think they do not actually care, or they care about their feelings. On the last topic, we might be planning and planning, but when we see a good option, we make it quickly, for as P's we can be very spontaneous.

Yes, you missed addressing the fact that Myers-Briggs types have no basis in experimental data, that the Jungian archetypes upon which they are based have both changed in meaning over the years and were fairly poor ways to evaluate people to begin with, that very few people in rigorous modern psychology research give much, if any, validity to them, and that alternate metrics, while still flawed, are generally considered to be at least more useful in practical trait psychology. Ans that's not even mentioning the influence of various flavors of neurodivergence. The point is, videos like this perpetuate the notion that these "types" are a valid and useful way to frame personality traits, which is just not the case according to almost anyone with professional experience in psychology or psychotherapy. Which makes it seem rather harmful to be promoting them without any disclaimer or advisement of the limitations and defects of this model.

Agree with all but the last bit. Reality is the way it is because it's that way. We look to UNDERSTAND what leads things to be the way they are, but no matter what it is you understand, the result is always that's the way it is. Humans don't control reality, we can't change it. That's ego at play. Everything goes exactly as it was always meant to. That doesn't mean we don't look into the HOW and WHY, but learning the how and why is only for our own understanding. Why is the sky blue? Ahh I see that's why. Nothing you can do with that information. Reality is reality. It's like learning how a magician does his tricks, we understand it, but doesn't mean we can change his tricks lol.

Agree on the points. As an INTP when I get asked "how are you feeling?", "how was your weekend?" "how's everything?" my response will be "nothing much", "nothing special", "no special feelings", "ok" and in actual fact, I really think they sum up how I feel. But a lot of people will think I am being anti-social, aloof or don't wish to engage with them, when that's not really the case. 😂

True though and I usually find these questions annoying because how would I, for example, remember what I did in the weekend? And why would it matter? Plus even if I did remember they probably won't find it interesting 🧡 we could have an awkward conversation of me explaining my latest introverted endeavours and they could look at me like I'm crazy or uncomfortably pretend to care, or I could say "nothing much" and spare us both so we could talk about something else.

Not always, at least for this INTP. I was once at a hardware store, and the cashier was very rude and condescending to me. I wasn’t upset about that, and I don’t think I would have been, anyway, but here, I was only confused about why my heart was levitating in _her_ presence in a way I haven’t felt before or since. I didn’t talk to her (past professional concepts), or ask her out, but I did think about it more than I normally would have, the feeling in my heart was so good. With her attitude, though, I couldn’t mentally mitigate the MeToo risk.

@Kimh-sz4ux 6 ай бұрын
I kinda get what you mean. I, personally, think in this situation, yes, the past is in the past. But we learn from what went wrong in the past so we can avoid making that mistake again. But if we don’t know what went wrong how could we learn from it? How could we prevent it from happening again? We need to figure it out, to know the conclusion in order to do so.
@FGP_Pro
@FGP_Pro 2 ай бұрын
"the past is in the past" is a meaningless tautology. They just say it because they have nothing else to say and they don't want to think about the issue to come to a helpful statement. Saying you are overreacting or overthinking, is just changing the subject to you, rather than commenting on the issue, because, again, they have nothing to say about it, and don't want to think about it. It's ad hominem, logically speaking.
@Spoonwood
@Spoonwood Ай бұрын
Generally, I hate it when someone says something like "you think too much" or "you're overthinking it." I mean, there does exist such a thing as reading into some writing when it's not there. But, to me that's more like a lack of thinking. And when people say something like "too long, didn't read", I more think something "you didn't care. You didn't look. You won't put in the effort."
@ItApproaches
@ItApproaches 28 күн бұрын
I mean, yes the past is the past, even though technically the past and future don't actually exist as time doesn't actually exist. You can't change a former moment in reality, that's unarguable. However you can still look into it and analyze it so you can understand it so that if it comes back around in the current moment, you can solve it then.

Recently during the pandemic, they started the 'tell me how you are feeling' as a daily check-in. It caused so much anxiety in me that I was contemplating going full NC with everyone. I just had to tell my supervisor: 'Never ask me this question. If I need help, I will contact you; if not, assume I am fine.' This is logged in my permanent records. It's a non-negotiable. Now if I can tell other people not to ask me 'how are you?' even casually, I can save at least 30 minutes of extra productive time per day, which was used to calm myself after being interrogated.

as an INTP, 'How do you feel about the weather?' doesn't bother me that much, I percieve it as 'Oh, this person knows how to open a conversation, let's follow through'. I do hate small talks but small talks are needed in socializing, my friends always ask 'how do you do blank stares?' just because I prefer logic and still trying to learn about emotions (especially crushes due to it's annoyingness). and here's a tip to not be annoyed by those 7 things, just ask them 'why?' again and again until they found their illogical thoughts and tell them about your logic (I mostly used this in professional manner because it's pretty useless in mundane things except you like to explain things) and always avoid close-minded people because it's useless (I tried it with many types of people and most results in 'because it's what society wants'). Summary : - Those 7 things doesn't bother me that much because I see some value in them (especially because I like to explain things) - Tips on 'Because I said so' : Just ask 'why?' until they got confused or opening up to your logic Don't do it on close-minded people You may use it in professional manner but don't forget the context and situation

6:40 I had a coworker call me Miss Antisocial because I didn't talk to her. Not only did I already feel bad vibes from her but being described as "antisocial" REALLY gets under my skin. @Spoonwood
@Spoonwood Ай бұрын
I like this point a good bit. Just because someone doesn't want to partake in some social activity, that doesn't make them antisocial. Antisocial means someone is against society. For example, an anti-social person would be against dancing because people will do something together. An asocial won't want to go to your dance, because s/he has something else to do. Or maybe doesn't like loud music. Or doesn't like the association with drinking or drugs. And I think that leads to another point. Not all forms of social behavior are good. Being "pro-social" is not necessarily better than being asocial. After all, how many people have done bad things for themselves like drugs or gotten convinced to do a crime, because he believed his girlfriend would like him more attractive if he did that crime or because his buddy wanted that crime done? It's not exactly a small number, I think.

I don't think that INTPs lose energy in groups. It's that they are analyzing and thinking through the conversations taking place, and as a result they are forced to follow the many different perspectives being shared and, most either do not make sense or they have little to do with logic at all. In the first case, the INTP must use their minds to trace illogical thought processes of others, and in the case of scatterbrained people, it's like following spaghetti code. It would be like the tediousness of trying to do maintenance on computer code written by a monkey, a stoned dude or someone who wanted their code to be extremely difficult to understand... like naming a variable intNumDogs to hold the number of horses in North America. So it's extremely fatiguing for an INTP to follow such people and not feel like your mind was dragged through a sewer. I believe INTPs prefer to be around teams or individuals that have a sartorial elegance to their thoughts or who can cut through layers of complexity and bring forth brilliance in simple and concise terms. Like E = mc2.

For the record, there's no "right" version of any personality type behavior. The type itself might exhibit some of those, but if you're talking about people who identifies as this type, the possibilities for their behavior are endless. I actually saw a few logical flaws (well, according to my understanding and knowledge) in this video, which pissed me off a little Basically, having traits described in this video does not make anyone that has them 100% INTP, it's mainly an identity, not the actual personality itself, so your agreeableness and conscientiousness, and other dimensions may be wildly different.. As for example your neuroticism, it's different in every person and can change with time. To be honest, stuff that was said in this video applies to INFPs as well, except a few other parts that I won't mention here What makes me not consider this explanation is that it's not really accurate to me logically, but I appreciate the effort

3:21 I never know how to answer how I was feeling HOWEVER do not discredit someone as an INTP just because they ask about your emotions. (Don't refute someones type without proper concern for having a discussion. Example "you're not an INTP 'insert angry words blah blah blah'" is bad and ignorant where as "I'm seeing more of an INFJ tendency in this right here, just what I'm observing" opens up for someone to say "Oh, interesting. I'll think about that." or "Yeah, I believe I developed my Ni due to circumstances in my job where it was more applicable than Ne but my brain still defaults to Ne first." They may just be trying out a new approach because socializing is really awkward and invalidating who they are just because they step out of their comfort zone in the pursuit of growth that would be a big fat checkmark for 'I don't want to waste my efforts on this' INTP HAVE Fe! How people feel does effect them but they wouldn't -lead- with how another is feeling. INTP has sub types just like every other type depending on what they choose to develop and ignore in their growth. Some INTP will realize that their weak spot in friendships is that they ignore talking about how the other is feeling and might say "You doing ok?" just to practice. Also as an INTP being accused on not caring about other people and getting in arguments, just because I didn't check in with my friends or considered feelings before information, got tiresome. Mental health issues due to isolation since I was before 10 didn't help but I'll spare those details. Also, online, I refused to use emoji for the longest time. I started using them because people would blow off at me for just explaining what I was analizing. So I started adding 😅 and such because my Ti + Ne realized that oh? when I do that people don't do that annoying thing where they take things personally and ignore every thing I said and intended to say die to their own disposition bias. Another thing is we protect and hide our emotions more than most of us care to realize or admit. So don't be surprised that we have emotions too that will manifest into frustration and sometimes self abuse (that we wont let people know about because they all say the same boring unhelpful things) So don't discredit an INTP if they show feelings and certainly do NOT expect them to show you emotions or emotional commitment because that raises red flags among is just outright uncomfortable. My sister would get pissed at me all the time for not being emotion-centric (she's ENFP) so I ended up not showing any emotion and just backing away from our relationship coldly. I explained my boundaries and they were ignored anyway so it's again our a way we protect out emotions that we are aware of which cause more complications than solutions.

Over my many years of being this type (68 of them, so far), I discovered that when I find myself thinking and thinking about a problem or situation (overthinking), what I really need are data - information. In general, the "thinking" part of solving a problem is very nearly instantaneous. Once that last bit of data comes along, the solution becomes obvious. I don't spend a lot of time thinking. I spend a lot of time researching, reading and studying. As with the rest of you, I have a high tolerance for ambiguity, but when it gets in the way of moving forward on a project or a problem, it's time for me to do some research, even if it leads to a wider array of possible solutions.

INTP = 1st function Data-Processing via introverted Thinking (Ti), 2nd function Character-Observation via extraverted iNtuition (Ne), 3rd function Action via introverted Sensing (Si), and 4th-function Principles via extraverted Feeling (Fe). The 5th-8th INTP "shadow" functions, Te/Ni/Se/Fi, are the 4 main functions of the ENTJ type.

"that's just the way it is" is a way of life for me, an INTP. Or maybe more specifically, "that's the way she goes." There is very little we can actually influence in life, dwelling on those things is just a waste. Now that doesn't stop me from spacing out and thinking about what I could do if I was omnipotent, but you need to realize and accept when you're powerless.

8! Generalizations! Some of these videos tend to make generalizations of type and leave out variables within the atmosphere to which a INTP person is brought up in! That in a manner of speaking is throwing stuff against a wall and seeing if it sticks.

Typically after going out and socializing, I black out once I get home. I sleep for hours. Unrelated, I can agree with most of these statements. I live around Fe doms, and particularly, this infj.. They say phrases like this often and at times I feel so annoyed. I attempt to explain how it bothers me then I am told that I am too sensitive. I felt as though I was wrong to be upset but I am not sure.

8:57 very true, I asked a guy to prom and I had an entire explanation for how I did it. I couldn’t text him cuz that’s puke be lame, and asking in person is too scary so I gave him a Valentine’s Day card asking him to go with me. I also gave a Valentine’s Day card to all of my other friends saying other things, so it’d seem like I asked him to prom as a friend in a platonic way and not in an “I have a crush on you way”

The thing I dislike the most is people wasting their time explaining things to me like I am a five year old. No, you don't have to slow down your speech. No, you don't have to explain what you wanted to say in 5 different ways. I understood you in the first 5 words of your speech. Now let me finish the task you wanted which will only take 2 minutes that you spent 7 just explaining. I can't help interrupting people like that, even my boss. They should just talk more concisely.

I think the small talk bit bears qualification. Depends on the pre-existing relationship with the small talker. Also, don’t use Snowden as an example. There are many INTPs that are career servants in the US Intelligence Community because they know those rules, understand them, and work diligently to enforce them for the public good. That’s not at all what buddy was doing.

I am INTP, with high N, and the P almost off the chart. I always ask "why" which is frequently seen as challenging, but it's because I want to know the thinking so I can use it next time that situation comes up. Also, I don't usually share my feelings unless I really trust the other person, and I'm not the type who has to share my opinions all over the place.

As an INTP (Ti-Ne-Si-Fe), you forgot to mention the cognitive functions besides the brief reference to Ne (Extroverted iNtuition). Still, it was somewhat accurate to me. When I hear because I said so, I instantly go to a sarcastic and mocking comment like, “Great reasoning.” It is irrational to me. People will also say, “You don’t need a reason,” which I know, but the reason would bring more understanding and be more helpful. Also, “It is what it is” implies that you aren’t going to try and change that, which is also irrational to me. In my old school, I would point out inconsistencies in rules, but they would say that, and I wouldn’t like it. I don’t care if that’s how it is, because it’s flawed, so we should fix it in my opinion.

There isn't such a thing as the ''worlds smartest'' personality type. Now INTP's are likely to be intelligent, but MBTI doesn't differentiate on intelligence. Secondly, the I as a first letter means that your dominant function is introverted, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're socially introverted, these are two different things. Now with the INTP it's OFTEN true, but it's an important distinction.

Disagree with number 4: That's the way things are doesn't upset me, we seek truth, and ultimately everything is exactly as it is meant to be. No matter what we learn, no matter what subject we dig into, once we understand it, the result is always still, it's just the way it is and their is no changing that. How does the mind work? Oh that's how, well can't do anything with that knowledge, just gives us an understanding of what's going on, we can't change it. Why is the sky blue, oh that's why, okay, moving onto the next subject, why are most humans stupid? Oh thats why, okay, it's meant to be that way because X, Y and Z. So on.

In fact, people often treat me like I am stupid or mentally ill simply because they have no understanding of what I'm talking about. Fucked up by making a joke during the solar flares at my job in a machine shop: "Remember guys, if our machines error out this week we can blame the sun" They all think I'm some crazy person that believes in magic or something because they don't know what solar flares are. Silly people, magic lies in the collapse of the wave function and it's potential interplay with consciousness If your most basic understanding is beyond the people around you it just leaves you feeling infuriated and lonely

I hate the "this is how we do it" answer when there is ZERO thought as to why it's done that way. I'm not going to do something a certain way simply because I'm told that's how it's done. I'll analyze it and if i find a better way of doing it I will, even if it causes problems for others. I'm not here for other people's benefit or pleasure. I also have no interest in socializing. My ex used to call me antisocial and I tried to explain that i have nothing against socializing but it's that i don't NEED it. I then told her that the best conversations I've ever had are with myself when I'm alone so why would i ruin a good thing by bringing someone dumb into it. She didn't get that i was referring to her.

I'm not sure I can agree with the being super picky with clothing. We don't care what people think about us, I just wear what I wear. There's nothing to over analyse about fashion, as fashion is an extroverted area. As long as what I'm wearing is clean and comfortable it's good enough. What I wear is small potatoes. Sure to a degree it would differ, say if you have a job interview then some thought would go into it. Though we would logically think it's stupid to hire someone based on the clothing they were. And we see it as pointless hoops to jump through. But if it's "asking out a girl" we aren't going to construct some fake image of ourself to to it through OMG WHAT DO I WEAR!

What "overanalyzing" or "overthinking"!? We are not idiots who can't understand that time, resource, and thinking power is finite(tho it does seem like unlimited to us as we enjoy thinking so much), and that there are priorities in life at times. Obviously, in simplified generalization, we will classify things into "needing", or "not-needing" a full analysis, and "tbd," and then prioritize based on circumstance, importance, urgency, time needed, our interest/passion at the moment, etc. The process to filter which matter we dwell on could get complicated in real life and depends on individuals, but I believe that we do always aim to be selective instead of trying to be thorough on everything(after all, we tend look at forest instead of trees).

Yeah, I'll add something. Don't lie to us. I'm a walking lie detector. On the "How are you feeling?", with our Fe, it should be pretty obvious if you're being observant. My ISTP wife didn't understand that, and I didn't have to ask her, as her Fe showed me quite well. Although since I'm now a "mature" INTP, I have little problem verbalizing it at this point.
