This video made me so happy! I want to take our kids out, but nervous. This put my mind at ease. I have a 1 1/2yr old boy, 2 girls 6 & 8. Make it fun, bring another family along for friends and stay safe. Thank you for being an inspiration. Happy hiking from Michigan

This is such a great video. I really like how you worked in your tips while keeping the video entertaining by including what we all want to see, a fun backpacking trip you can enjoy with your family.

Definitely put all kids packs in the truck and put all toddlers on a leash 😉 Prevents lots of falls. Cute video! I love your getting your kids out there! They are so adorable!

Okay I have to say this - I clicked on this video because my husband and I are expecting our first and we have been thinking about what it will be like having little kids out in nature... my husband proposed to me at Hansen's point so I got totally misty eyed seeing this!!

do you stick to easy trails with kids or do you attempt moderate ones too?
@beanadventuring75733 жыл бұрын
We do both! If we do more strenuous trails featuring more elevation gains we will let the kids set the pace and take breaks often. They are pretty resilient and are often more capable than we give credit to. It’s always an option to bail out and head to the car if the trail is determined to be too difficult. Just keep plenty of snacks/water and remember not to start them off on a trail that’s too difficult for their skill level😉

We started backpacking at the end of 2019. Info on backpacking with kids was pretty sparse then. Toys and fun stuff to do is key. I tried to keep their pack weight to 15% of their body weight. My goodness, how much did the uncle's pack weigh!!?? That looked massive! What tents were you using to house everyone? Beautiful spot there at Hanson's Point!!

Yea, you’re right about info on taking kids backpacking. It seems a little daunting the first few times and then you figure out the things to leave at home. Not sure what the weight of uncles pack was but it was more than I would want to carry! 🤪 It was also their first time taking kids backpacking so possibly some extras… We use a marmot tungsten 4P tent for a family of four plus a dog and gear and it’s the perfect size. It’s around 7.5lbs but we split it up between my wife and I so it’s not bad at all!

@@beanadventuring7573 I was just putting together a video for family backpacking tents and had the Marmot Tungsten as an honorable mention! Being able to split up the weight is super helpful!

This a great video shocked at lack of subscribers! You just gained another one thank you for inspiration. Can I ask which packs (and size) the kids are using? Also how far did you bike each day? Looking forward to exploring more of your videos

Thank you so much for the kind comment. We took a break from KZbin for a bit but we'll be uploading some more content soon so stay tuned!!☺️ So glad it helped inspire you! That is our mission here😀 We are a little limited on biking distances because of our 3 year old. (little legs on a strider bike...)lol I'd say we probably cover 1-2 miles. The kids packs are Osprey Daylite packs and they love them! The packs are big enough for them to carry a few things and feel like part of the adventure. daylite-kid-s-DAYLTKIDSS20_204.html
