Hey, Copenhagen resident here :) Great video - and channel, I do enjoy your content! I myself is a couchsurfing host - also, I live in the outskirts of Copenhagen NW, which has such more vibrancy & different culture-clashes. I would also recommend to seek up small venue-places around town, as mentioned, Copenhagens is somewhat famous for it's underground Jazz-scenes - and small bars too, always. Also try to look for open-mic arrangements, happens quite a lot, whether it being stand-up, Poetry/Poetry Slam, music etc. Also, do enjoy nature while you're here, Copenhagen is fairly small compared to other capitals. Can recommend Amager Fælled or any route by the water really :)

I'm going to Copenhagen next week. Anything I need to know before I go?? Also, could you do a separate video with the best free or really cheap things to do in Copenhagen please? Thanks a lot :)

Great video! I have been to Copenhagen and as you say is not expensive as everyone says.... Just need to understand how the Danish live!

Thanks so much for this! I think I’m still going to spend at least some money on local food, but I guess one perk to having to travel with one carry-on weighing 17lbs is that you can’t go shopping 😂

Alternatives for Monzo: Revolut lets you keep money in an account (it's supposed to be one of those branchless banks) and gives you the bank foreign exchange rates (i.e. no fees), although I do believe some places can be funny with Revolut cards seeing as they're prepaid. Alternatively there's Curve (AFAIK UK Only), which lets you pay with multiple different cards using a single payment card, was a proper debit card unlike Revolut so would have less issues, and also gives you the FX (Bank's rate) with no fees, although compared to Revolut it directly converts and instantly charges said link debit/credit cards in the local currency. I remember someone got rather confused my my curve card because the info is printed (not embossed) and is on the back, so other than the chip there's nothing on the front of it.

What about the most expensive thing, accommodation? I'm going there soon, is private room at an AirBnB the way to go?
@thornton5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We got one about 15 min bus ride from Copenhagen centre very cheaply at short notice.

Don't like zoos so don't think I would go to any. I am planning to go there in April but I still want to go to Tivoli gardens. Revolut is the same as Monzo (you can have a walled in dkk). The 72h City pass seems OK to travel through 4 zones. I think being on a budget is ok but 4 days on 50 quid is a bit extreme.
@thornton6 жыл бұрын
Yes Revolut does a similar thing, check their foreign exchange policy :)

I'm going in April as well! But I'm coming from the US. Should I carry dkk currency or just carry a debit card?
@thornton5 жыл бұрын
cesarmarquez04 I would do some research into US cards with no foreign withdrawal fees and good exchange rates. If you get a good one, just take this to the ATM at the airport. Otherwise you may have to start off with some DKK, buying it in advance will almost always get you a bad rate but it could be better than some bank’s foreign withdrawal fees.

Great tips. I can see if you’re just really wanting to go to an expensive destination and don’t exactly have the money to enjoy it. I personally budget for those local food experiences. I hear the danish hot dogs aren’t that bad as far as prices. I’m going to Copenhagen next week so I’ll find out soon enough.

@thornton6 жыл бұрын
It’s up to you what you specifically want to see but you won’t enjoy Copenhagen as a city in that time. Maybe stay in malmo for longer?

I’d say Copenhagen is too big unless you specifically want to see the little mermaid and then leave. With a packed schedule like that I think you spend too much time checking in/out and moving between hotels, could spend that time exploring one city. But if you’re set on that schedule yes you’ll have a good time in Copenhagen

Tom, experiment suggestion. Change the background color on your postings. See which color gets biggest response. Pink is repulsive to me ! Count this view as -0 !
