In my recent adventure with the DJI Air 2S drone I landed in Twin Falls, Idaho to run some tests. I gained some insights that I think will make a difference, especially if you own an Air 2S.
Initially, I picked up this drone to capture some epic shots for a Stargate fan film project. I discovered the importance of investing in stronger ND filters for better exposure control, using a landing pad to protect the camera lens and drone, and upgrading to the DJI RC Controller for a more seamless flying experience. I share some color grading tips about filming in D-Log to capture a wider dynamic range.
Before taking off, I discovered the significance of double-checking all drone and camera settings to avoid any unwanted surprises. Exploring the various tracking modes of the drone, I found the parallel tracking feature to be particularly amazing, allowing me to set the drone on a path while I focused on other aspects of the shoot. It's crucial to fly within your comfort zone and gradually challenge yourself, ensuring safety and optimal results.
Using drones for film production has opened up endless possibilities for capturing cinematic shots. Interestingly, even platforms like Netflix allow 10% of non-certified camera footage in their films. With the DJI Air 2S drone setup, I'm confident in my ability to achieve the shots I envision for the Stargate fan film project without breaking the bank.

Hi there. I have a few suggestions for Air 2s add ons. First, get some landing gear to help raise the drone for take off and landing. Ot will help keep the lens from hitting the ground or the landing pad when landing the drone. Next, use a tablet along with a tablet holder as opposed to a phone or even the smart controller. Also, add a sunshade for better visibility on the tablet. The reason for this is app flexibility when it comes tovediting drone footage on the fly from your tablet. The RC and RC pro is very limited in installing the apps tovuse with video and picture editing. Plus, the screen on the tablet is usually bigger than the screen on th RC Pro

Great video. I am a drone enthusiast who has been flying since 2018. I fly for the love of flying and have always looked at photography as 2nd priority. Something I am slowly coming to understand may not be the best way to do it. I am only now starting to learn some of the camera magic. I believe the best teacher for Drones is stick time. Fly whenever and wherever you can, again for the fun of the flight. I started with the 2.7k camera on my Phantom and my Mini drones but moving up to the Air 2S with the 5.4k , 20 MP camera has gotten me more interested in the camera side of drones. Again great video, I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing.

Good question...I'm guessing an early version of 18. 18 was released July 21, 2022, but I didn't download it immediately, but this was released April-May 2023 so I would have had it by then.

Hey just noticed something you can't fly a dji drone with just a phone all dji drones come with a controller just so you know but otherwise great vid

Mine came with the controller that uses your phone with it as the ‘screen’. I wasn’t a fan of that setup when my phone screen went dark…I was super new to flying drones and didn’t want to run into that situation again.
