"...the final manOOver. Britain." 😆 I think I've only written one death scene (two if you wanna count the ending of my piece for the Isolation prompt), and these are definitely some good points to have in mind for the future.

I know that might be a bit twisted but I am a Fan of when you ignore Rule #1 entirely and have nothing but a murderers perspective. The person dying is completely arbitrary in this case. I agree though in almost all cases make a death count by evoking a response in your reader.

If you like Hill House you should watch the Bly House follow up. I'm a bit disappointed with it overall but the journey was fun.

I loved Bly Manor! I think it'll just have the same situation AHS had with season 2 where people are kinda disoriented about it being a different type of story, so different people will prefer different seasons. I reaaaally hope they pick it up for a third.

Great help thank you!!! A couple of questions unrelated to this particularly video.... How do you decide what pov to write your story in? Which pov do you most often use?
@HannahLeeKidder
@HannahLeeKidder 4 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want to accomplish, really. Further POVs make storytelling easier, nearer POVs make connecting your reader and characters easier. I don't have a preference. If you've read any of my books, you'll see I use all tenses and POVs 😊

Would you kill a POV character? It could be one of several, or maybe, at the end of the book, the one and only.

Some of these tips are like: "No shit sherlock" like the one about feeling attatched to the characters, and the one going: show how it affects other characters. Like duh. But others are good. Thanks.

Dont worry no fat man on water slides comments from me. Though I think every story and book should somehow jam that phrase in there. Including death scenes, he died like a fat man on a water slide. My gripe with death in books or media or any of it? Not so much the prose or writing. But it all seems like a fad and predestined and cookie cutter. That is, you have to main ways writers go about it. The never dying death defiant hero who may take a scratch or two but since hes the main guy or gal, cant die. And the more popular now a days of kill of every charter because it a shock to the readers that game of thrones ie song of ice and fire made over popular. None of it is real, but you know, there stories. If it was anything like real life, the hero would set out on an adventure, accidentally step on a rusty nail and die of gangrene or diabetes or something. And? The End of that story. All two sentences of it. People die all the time, and theres never any good story behind it, most of it is not even exciting, thats mostly an invention of Hollywood created in the 1950s, maybe sometime an obituary in the newspaper created by a loved one. One day they are there, the next....Gone. But you know that would make a pretty shit and boring and short story. So how to write a great death scene? In an overall arc, don't think it can be done as either way your just pandering to your target audience, how they like there death. But, I suppose you can spice it up a bit.
