Forgot to add it on screen, but "sledgehammer" is R' F R F' or L F' L' F, used to insert F2L pairs while influencing some last layer edges. The parity and edge flip algorithms are all in the description, as well as links to other advanced 4x4 videos including example solves, 3-2-3 edge pairing, and half centers. Thanks for watching!

Hey everyone. I'm trying to decide what 3x3 cube to get. My friend let me try out his Gts2, and at first I liked it, but after a couple solves, I found that it was a little clunky, loud, and didn't have a very "smooth" feel to it, so I think that a different cube may be the better choice for me. I am open to any price, but preferably below $25-30. Budget cubes, magnetic cubes, or just regular cubes are all contenders. Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone recommends. EDIT: Omg J Perm replied. Woah, I did not expect that at all. The mf3rs2m? I'll look into it. Thank you J, it means a lot!

@@Rubiking Hoya Vs reduction is a trade-off between lookahead and efficiency. There isn't much of a difference between Yau and Hoya because the last four centers are slower than Hoya's centers, but Yau edges are faster.

I notice most other people hold cross on left; so do you think switching would make a difference in any aspect of solving?

@iurigrang6 жыл бұрын
Low 50, I don't really practice 4x4 all that much. Meyer is really similar to yau, but instead of doing 3 cross edges you do FB. That also leads to some differences in edge pairing, (since you can't break those 2 corners), but you also have the extra freedom because the front edge isn't fixed.

Hi Dylan, I've been implementing these tips into my solving ever since this video's release. I averaged about 2:00 then with basic Yau. I am now around 1:05, and I cannot seem to break that barrier no matter how hard I try, or how much I try to lookahead. I'm honestly unsure what's going on, but it just feels like I am just a slow turner, and cannot move the cube fast enough.

I would recommend adding dnm to your bug cubes for more speed, speed on big cubes is huge. Although that probably won’t decrease your avg by that much it will help with turning

At 8:50 what I do is (r U r’ U’) (r U2 r’). It’s quick and easy to remember. Also, you said around 18 seconds on 3x3 should be able to get you to sub 1 on 4x4. What about sub 15? And last, a bit of fan mail, your half centers video has helped me so much! I learned half centers a few weeks ago, and I was struggling to get sub 1:04, and now I’m easily 1:02.xx, with my average dropping every session. This video came out at the perfect time!
@JPerm6 жыл бұрын
that's great! keep it up :) i dont know an accurate conversion from 3x3 to 4x4, but 4x4 takes about 3-4 times as long if you're good, (closer to 4 as you get faster at 3x3, since 4x4 starts to limit your turn speed). so if you're sub-15 and not sub-1 minute, then 3x3 is not the limiting factor.
