So clear and helpful...nail shape so important...I think striving to play with emotion rather than mechanically really helps in good tone.

Tavi Jinariu, your recording of Farewell (Assad) is one of the most heart wrenchingly beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard, in any medium. My classical guitar teacher showed me the piece some years ago. What a surprise to come across your thoughts here. Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best!

Tavi, let me tell you one thing: You,ve got one of the most (if not the most) BEAUTIFUL sound I have heard coming out of a classical guitar. To hear you play is a pleasure to the ears and, as a consequence, a pleasure for our souls. Not only the sound is excellent: the phrasing is also gorgeous, unbeatable. I always wondered about that "strange" way to strike the strings with your right hand fingers: the Parkening method might have something to do with it....and if it is so, the results of this slice technique are just awesome. Tavi your are a master of the guitar and a constant inspiration for me and, I assume, many other aspiring guitarists. Congratulations for your music videos and also for those videos with tips and about technique.

Very, very helpful techniques! Thank you! To me, tone is the beginning for music. It doesn’t matter how proficient a player is if the tone is lacking.

The sandpaper tip is a good one. I use that as well. I like that you mention that you don't have to have nails to get a great tone and everyone has to find their own way because we're all different. Rob Mackillop uses the no nails technique and he's phenomenal. However there are drawbacks like not being able to do tremolo as well and rest strokes and full strokes are not distinguishable. Recently I've had to clip and file my nails extra short during the holiday season because I'm handling more boxes in retail. I've had to make changes but I still enjoy playing and those nails will grow back in two weeks. I enjoy the video and Tavi is a knowledgeable teacher. Thanks for the upload.
