My shop is very small and the previous homeowner painted the walls and ceiling dark brown. I'm going to prime and paint it white. And light--heck yes!

Go up! I am completely cleaning and organizing my 1-1/2 bay shop in preparation for moving to a new home. I threw away (or gave away) anything I do not intend to use in the new shop. Man, that was hard to do but it was liberating and created SO much more room!

That would be very difficult, for sure. Does the new home have a similar sized shop space, or are you downsizing?

OR, you can knock out a wall and add on 😉. After all, you can't have too much stuff, or can we?

Go up, there was some good ideas in this vid, if there was only tip i could give you,it would be to make another saw blade holder and take the one you have on the wall at head height down and burn it, it honestly gives me shudders every time i see it. If you slip/trip/stumble or fall you could do so much damage to yourself.

Haha, I’d never really thought of that until I read this and watched the video again and saw how close it looks like it’s sitting to my head!

I'm a brand newby! Do you mind telling me a) how big is your shop? And b) how much, in total, all your tools have cost you. I'm finding it VERY expensive and, so far, I don't even have a table saw, let alone a band saw, planer, router or drill press and no dust extraction other than my house vacuum cleaner.

Hey, welcome to the hobby and the channel! I'm in a 9.5 x 9.5ft shed. As for tools, you can start woodworking with a drill/driver, a circular saw, and a pocket hole jig and make some half-decent stuff. You would need to get S4S (surfaced four sides) lumber or be selective in picking lumber from your big box store. I've also gotten a lot of my tools (most of them) used. For example: My bandsaw cost me $250 and my tablesaw was $200 (Canadian). I would check out @SteveRamsey at Woodworking for Mere Mortals for his list of tools to get started for under $1000US. As you spend more time in the hobby, you'll pick up more tools as you need them or come across them on Marketplace. I hope that helps!
