Nice job. Great inspiration. Excellent results. Moxon vises are ideal for small shops / workbenches. You might consider selling the knobs.

The Rigid warranty is useless unless you live close to their warehouse, repair facility etc. Not practical to ship a planer. If you read user reports, the Hercules planer from Harbor Freight is considered a winner.

Fair. For us here in Canada, Harbor Freight isn’t an option, unfortunately.

I personally enjoy the Rob Cosman method of hand cutting dovetails, but this method is definitely attractive for those projects that need to be done quickly. Btw I'm not good with a hand saw, but I'm pretty good with a chisel so i tend to leave some waste to pare away

Nonsense! If I cut too much, I just put two screws in the wood, weld a piece of metal to it, and then grind it down to the desired thickness. These kids these days don't know anything...

I’ve hesitated to say this for a while now but it’s time and you know I’m a subscriber so I’m not trying to troll you so… Please use shorts for original snippets, all these clips from your regular videos are annoying because I want to see your original content but now am just getting short reruns and unfortunately it’s caused me stop watching them at all, I literally only started this one just to leave this comment after verifying that it was just another rerun.

9/10 I know when it's only a blade that needs to come off, blades are usually 3mm thick. I'm building houses not pianos, works the same for skirting and archs. You look like a cabinetmaker so this rule makes sense.

Simply lower the blade, push the material against it (the blade will bend a tiny bit), lift the blade (you hear a „ping“), start the cut 😉

When you put the chamfer on the edge of the door why didn't you use your trim router with a bit with a bearing? That is a beautiful door. It needs a peephole and a knocker. You may also consider adding kick plates and push plates.

Not our style but nice job. I was surprised that you didn’t appear to do anything to seal around the edges of all those pieces on the exterior side, hopefully you actually did or don’t have issues with water intrusion over time since those pieces aren’t sealed on all sides.
@windfirewoodwork
@windfirewoodwork Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If you’re talking about the exterior profiles where they meet the raised panels, I think they are weather sealed (or at least I hope they are!). The glazing tape states it is 100% water and wind proof at 20% compression.
@inmyimage1081
@inmyimage1081 Ай бұрын
@@windfirewoodwork I went back and reviewed the relevant sections of the video and I might have misunderstood which side of the door is the exterior facing side. I thought you used the glazing fix the panel in place on the interior side but after reviewing it, I think that was actually the exterior so hopefully you don’t have any issues. 👍

If I didn’t have a track saw, I would probably make a jig for my router and use that. I’ve found a router to be one of the most useful and flexible tools in the shop, especially for big stuff like a door.
