I'm attending a photography workshop in NL in May 2024 and your videos describing Newfoundland's rich history and beautiful scenery make me anticipate a great visit. Thank you for your creativity.

Thank you so much. Will you be visiting much of the island? If so, I hope you get to see any one of the places from this video. If you're going to be around St. John's keep an eye out for my video coming on Saturday for a few tips!

@@mark_royle_newfoundland The workshop is co-led by Gord Follett and lasts 5 days. I'm staying an additional 3 days to poke around on my own and I've been using your videos to make a shot list. Looking forward to your videos!

Nice video. Saw the whole thing while cooking dinner yesterday.. been traveling more of nfld the last few years and channels like yours inspire me to continue checking out more places. Surprised you don't enjoy hiking though! Lol
@mark_royle_newfoundland Жыл бұрын
I love to see that, thank you. Well I used to say I can't stand hiking but that Fogo Island stuff is softening me up. I'm gonna go see the Skerwink Trail in Trinity East/Port Rexton in March if the snow is mostly gone by then. And I have a few other places to check out this coming year that I haven't been to like Harbour Breton, Belloram, and the South Coast. Can't wait to bring my camera down there to show you what it's like (if you don't already know). And thank you for actually watching the whole video, I really appreciate that!

@@mark_royle_newfoundland hi again Mark, i've taken multiple trips to the "Coast Of Bays" (Harbour Breton being the westernmost town of the COB). The Bay D'espoir highway is not the most scenic route that's for sure!, but things get quite lovely & with large hills and beautiful open spaces the last 30 KM or so. My wife is from English Harbour West. Belloram is not to be missed with lots of history & geographic intrigue. Rencontre is only accessible via boat/ferry. // The Blue Pinion trail down that way is quite nice. I have a soft spot for Back Cove by English Harbour West. The drive west from the turnoff out through Mose Ambrose to Wreck Cove has grand, barren views. Wreck cove is the last cove/town that way. Very intriguing places to visit.

I’m 87 years old. I travelled that route that you just did in 2016 by myself that’s not what I wanted to do but I couldn’t find anybody that was young enough to do it lol Well things have certainly changed since I was there. It was always fabulous, but the painting of the houses has made a big difference…. A big difference! I’m really enjoying your videos and I hope when you go to the south coast you don’t forget places like gray river and Francois which I never got to. I would’ve loved to have gotten to. it looks so picturesque but if I were there, I’d take pictures of the community. It seems to most of the pictures that I found are pictures from a distance like from a drone. It looks fascinating, only 95 inhabitants, but it’s deadly populated for such a small area.

I can't wait to see Grey River and Francois. There are a few places on my list to visit in 2025 that I haven't been to yet, but these are at the top of my list. I agree with you, these are fascinating communities. And I promise I'll get lots of footage of the communities, and not just from my drone! Thanks for watching, as always. And happy new year to you!

Love your videos , we are planning our first ever trip coming from the Niagara area in Ontario . So far we have 4 nights in St Johns exploring all around the area . Then off to Bonavista for 3 nights . Rocky Harbour for 3 nights then 3 nights in Twillingate . Back to St johns for our flight home .

@@mikelyons3117 That is just about perfect timing. You might catch ice bergs in Twillingate. It's a bit late in the ice berg season but this past summer there were still a bunch of huge ones around. Bonavista has the Church Street Festival usually at some point in the second half of July. Rocky Harbour is a perfect home base for Gros Morne any time of year... and if you have time (and any energy left) before your flight you'll be back in St. John's in time for the George Street Festival.

Hi i am coming to stephenville in august 2024 for my study can you let me know how is that place to live work and study ?
@mark_royle_newfoundland Жыл бұрын
Stephenville is actually going through a very interesting period right now. It is a nice small town presently and if you're going to study at CNA I can say that this is the main campus of CNA and it looks like a very nice facility, but I don't have any direct experience studying there. But there are a few big business/industry things happening in the Stephenville area, that if they actually happen, could completely transform the town.

Just to say,found a comment that said"The UK drives on the left,Canada drives on what's left. Well , our roads aren't that good either😅.

Haha I never heard that before but it definitely fits. The government has been trying to fix things up lately but we got a pretty strong rep for terrible roads here
