One Small Favour is the epitome of "can you fetch me that thing" gone wrong. I love when the adventurer even gets mad at the lumberjack for only giving him some red logs for all that trouble and the lumberjack says "What did you expect, you only brought me my axe from Port Sarim". Plenty of quest chains in Runescape derail into full-on nonsense, like Trollheim's quest chain or the Cold War quest where you start talking to the zookeeper about penguins and ultimately find out they're building an army

@kitsu1379
@kitsu1379 2 жыл бұрын
@@girasola1591 Yeah but that's actually quiet a boring reason. It's coz they only made like a dozen different dungeon like area so they just kept reusing the same ones they just put blocks to your path in different places, like a minecart or an unopenable door. Not saying it doesn't sometimes make it weird when the interior of a cave looks the same as a dwarven taig but for reasons it's rather run of the mill. I think the problem is as a world, Dragon Age 2 is a lot smaller since base game wise... actually even with the DLC (since they only add really 2 new locations in Chateu Haine and the Darkspawn Prison thingy) it's still really small, it's just the city and a handful of the same surrounding areas and you mostly go to the same places over and over again so I think some people on the team might have thought that meant they could get away with using the same maps over and over. Which is a shame because 2 still gets bounced back and forth with Inquisition as my favourite Bioware game. 2 of the 3 DLC have some pretty good maps though.

What about the "One Really, Really Bad Day" side quest from AC: Odyssey? A simple request to take out a few pirate ships to protect a village turns into a slapstick tragicomedy where Kassandra's every attempt at helping ends with the quest-giver dying in a hilariously horrible way.

@Joe_Potts I don't recall kassandra being the canonical choice in Valhalla and doubt ubisoft would do that especially considering Ubisfot decided both male and female Eivor was canon despite the fact Eivor is a feminine name if they were to go with a Canon choice it'd make more sense for alexios to be the Canon choice given how much respect a title like eagle bearer would bring (and let's face it you are not respected at all if you play kassandra) Edit: Well, I'll be damned she is the canon choice, so is killing alexios reconciling with myrinne stentor and nikolaos and aspasia living ( I don't remember who that is) is still alive? Travel to another Landmass to find its inhabitants brainwashed, then help some guard, find the Skaal, meet Neloth, read black books and meet the FIRST Dragonborn who's been trapped inside a Daedric Realm and thinks he can outsmart the Daedric Lord of Knowledge and Plots. The sidequest that comes to mind for me is “Vi’s Request” from Bug Fables. At first, it seems like a pretty standard trading sequence; trade a fancy toy for a souvenir, trade that souvenir for some fabric, trade that fabric for some dye, and then trade that die for some paint to give to Vi’s sister, so they stop fighting. The only issue is, that fancy toy is found at Metal Island. If you wait until the end of the game, you do get free passage there eventually, but if you get Vi’s Request done immediately it’s a little more complicated. See, getting to Metal Island by normal means is super expensive, too expensive to realistically afford without hours of needless grinding. You can make the trip cheaper, though, by being qualified for the trading card game tournament, and in order to do that you must travel around the world, finding 4 secret “Card Masters”; people who say they’re amazing at this card game, but really, really aren’t. Not too bad so far, you may be thinking, until you also realize in order to start searching for the Card Masters in the first place, you have to get access to a secret underground tavern, and the only way to do that is by fighting an actual vampire. So, what started off as a fairly simple “get Vi’s sister some paint so they can make up” turns into “journey to every corner of the world for a complex trade sequence, learn how to play a trading card game in a secret undeground tavern, journey around the world a second time to get qualified for a card game tournament, and fight a vampire to do it”.

There's a really tedious side-quest in RuneScape called "One Small Favour" where an NPC has you do the seemingly trivial task of acquiring some special wood from a nearby ranger, whose axe you have to get sharpened, you know, as a small favour. This evolves into a long chain of asking someone for help, only for them to need help too, and then the next. And your reward for helping all those people and ultimately delivering the rare wood? A key ring. To hold your keys.
