I hear some rumors that putting the cloth inside the frunk may not always be the best idea due to heat. I usually do the first tip anyways (hence the hole). Either way, do whatever you like best! @@MySonSet I sold my PSVR and PS4 for a Quest, and I couldn't be happier. IMHO the Quest is WAY better. I barely was using the PSVR, and now I'm playing with the Quest all the time. The only cons are; no AAA games like RE7 or Skyrim VR, it doesn't feel as comfortable as PSVR, and it has a 3 hour battery life if you don't connect an external battery. I can't consider the down grade in graphics much of a con because the screen resolution is so much better and you can actually use the net and watch video (PSVR is like playing a HD game on a CRT monitor). Definitely look into it!

no, its a terrible approach no matter how long you spend tweaking and adjusting it. the variation in tension/chord weight on the headset varies depending on your position. turning in the wrong position will wrench the thing off your head. and not to mention overhead arm movements smacking the cable depending which way you're facing (unless your ceiling is abnormally high or you're a manlet.) feel free to waste the time and stress it takes to implement this "solution" and get back to me so i can say i told you so.
@SenorQweeph
@SenorQweeph 4 жыл бұрын
Don't listen to these guys, the pulley system is amazing I've had it for a little over a year and it just takes a little tweaking and you're good to go. Literally after a few games and just moving the cord around to your liking you don't even notice it anymore.
@astroreflux
@astroreflux 4 жыл бұрын
@@SenorQweeph how do you mitigate the variable tension and how big is your play space? I call willfull ignorance. Its much better to just tuck the cable into your pants band to remove cable weight, you barely ever step on it.

If you have any kind of carry case for your quest, sit it in that. Keep it in there like it's a flea infested rat ready to spread the plague. This is coming from someone who doesn't VR but this seems like a great idea nonetheless. P.s. if you don't own a carry case, you likely should. Even if you don't plan on going somewhere with that fancy mask. The quest is effectively the first good shot at portable VR, so you can imagine that little of the design went to durability.

This is awesome because for the longest time I’ve been trying to figure out how to make vr as comfortable as possible so I can play it much longer. I actually did everything you said before this video came out. I used a big fat fan at max power, I have my wires connected to the same pulleys as you do on the sealing and have it hang from above when I’m done, and I’ve used a carpet to keep my position lol. I almost felt like making a KZbin video on what I do just cuz it felt so much nicer playing vr that way. But you already did it :) BTW for those thinking about getting that pulley ceiling thing... there’s one thing you will run into that becomes very problematic. Even though the wire is above you, you will likely deal with the wire getting in your face when you turn around in game. I’ve had it get in the way of my arms as well and when I try to make the wire stay above my head, it sucks to crouch down to grab something cuz you have this resistance slowing you down from going down low (plus it will cause the cord to become long again and will get in your face again). Therefore I’ve found a way to deal with this problem effectively to make everything feel better. What I do is get the wire protruding from your headset, clip it to the back of your shirt with a clipper thingy, then get the remaining slack wire and clip it above your headset somewhere where you can actually clip it (for my oculus rift headset I clip it to that little oculus tag thing sticking out from the top). Make sure the clips you use give space for the wire to slide through them. You don’t want the wire being fixed in the position you clipped them or else you will feel resistance. This method works wonders and I’ve always made sure I set it up that way before my friends dived into vr and it has brought some great opinions of vr. This man is not kidding when he says that their first experience with vr will likely make them a vr fan or vr hater

The IRL fan is really a great tip I would recommend to everyone. Apart from the plus sides you’ve already mentioned, there is also some research into using a fan/wind to reduce motion sickness. As your body/brain is used to some wind while moving your brain will easier accept movement in VR which does not translate to IRL movement.

Found many of those ideas for myself but still really good video on this topic, keep it up My fav games so far Chroma Lab (particles) Cosmic Sugar (particles) Blade & Sorcery (ragdolls n stuff, many mods) Pavlov VR (obviously, it's great) McOsu (much better than Beat Saber in my opinion, free) Accounting+ (great comedy) Portal Stories VR (Community mod I think, it's a nice puzzler) No Mans Sky/Elite Dangerous (only flew around in a Spaceship yet) Tabletop Simulator (if you play it anyways already/have friends, but you have to remap the buttons, it's weird otherwise) Subnautica (never played it, but saw lets plays and I imagine it to be great in VR) Compound (only played the demo but it's totally surreal to be in a pixelated world, look it up) I don't like Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Handgrenades that much actually, but it's very popular so I put it here I just bought Modbox and Combar Tested, haven't played them yet, but they look great.

The floormat tip paired with the fan tip is so good. It doesn't ruin my immersion and sort of fades into my subconcious while also acting as a mental safety net in case I feel lost.

@@GuitarGuruGaming it kinda does when you don't need to worry about tripping down with wires from the Headset and falling to your death lol If you ever ignore the recommended space the headset gives you and dive jump into the TV like some videos then you're straight up dumb.

Belle OTK you do realize that the wires aren’t the reason for the boundaries right? Also some other headsets have wireless attachments too(and they run better). Having a quest doesn’t make you special lol

Great Tips! BTW, the other advantage of putting a fan in a specific position (facing your front for example) is helping Oculus CV1 users who only have 2 front sensors from turning around/away too often from the front sensors and affecting tracking (due to body occlusion). I love this channel!
