I generally don’t even consider getting this card because it’s just not different enough from the Chase Sapphire Preferred yet, but this video showed why it could be worth it depending on what services/credits you can take advantage of. The CSR's travel protections and primary CDW are probably the most under-rated benefit. Collision Damage Waver for most rental car places is around $15 a day so a weeks rental you can save $105 dollars, and the trip delay insurance triggers after 6 hours which is a lot better than most

This. I’m surprised that Chase doesn’t advertise this as their main draw of the CSR. Their insurance and coverage is the best. Other than that the card is meh.

@@DoremonUCR Because they lose money if everyone maximizes the perks. That's why they devalue the card. They made it too good of a value when it first launched and almost everyone was coming out on top using the benefits.

Yeah these perks are awesome. I booked a flight with my CSP and had a 9 hour delay. I was like dang if I only had the CSR, my additional expenses would've been covered. But no, I was stuck with my 12 hour minimum trip delay insurance CSP. 🤪

I really like my CSR. Actually I think it has a superior point valuation overall to the Amex Platinum, and far easier to reap the benefits. When it comes to lounge access however, I hold on to the Platinum. I've found CSR's Luxury Hotel Collection comparable to Amex's FHR pgm. On an international trip I could leave my Platinum behind, but no way would I leave the CSR😎 - great breakdown👍🏾

After watching this video, I'm thinking about upgrading my CSP back to the CSR. Now that I understand the features of this card, I'm confident i can maximize the benefits of this card. I originally had the CSR, but I panicked downgraded once the annual fee increased. I have no problem with annual fee at this point.

I read that when paying with points that luggage insurance is not covered. Need to pay a small amount in cash to have your luggage covered by CSR insurance. However, if you pay all in points your flight insurance is covered. So when paying on the Chase travel portal pay at least $1 in cash instead of all points to have baggage insurance.

For the welcome bonus. Do the purchases need to be posted or just purchased in pending status by the three month window? I have a couple of purchases that are pending and I am three days until the date I need to spend X amount to get the welcome bonus.

For most cases those pending charges WILL count toward the SUB. As long as you made the purchase before the ending date you should be good 👌🏼

@@okamikirito easiest to use travel credit of the bunch by far. I think it was on par with the CSP value wise before the new free instacart membership and $180 instacart credit. The other thing I noticed is I checked specific restaurants overseas and street food stalls where the CSR coded as dining, yet the AmEx gold failed to do so. I'm not a big lounge guy and the centurion lounge has disappointed me more often than not, so for that reason alone I think the CSR is the best premium travel card. On par with the Ritz-Carlton card and the Aspire if you are into hotels. But overall I'd give it to the csr.

You’re crazy and that’s just plain blasphemous lol. If that were the case just get the US Bank Altitude Reserve and call it a day. Credits just as easy and cheaper. You can value those instacart and food delivery service credits at full value. Price is usually inflated or there are fees. Venture X is a better card overall. Platinum is a league of its own. 1. Platinum, 2. Venture X 3. Altitude Reserve and/or CSR

I travel internationally 6-8 times a year, domestically 4-6 times a year, I have all 3 cards and the CSR is the better card. 1.5 cpp is all you will get flying economy with transfer partners give or take, CSR saves you a ton of time and headaches just booking on their portal. And out of the 3 the CSR is 100% reliable coding properly, the other two companies have failed me at this. US Bank doesn't reimburse AFs for military and neither does C1.

Venture X is pretty much free each year. Altitude reserve credit now includes dining. 1.5 redemption is a really bad redemption, coupled with all the recent airport issues the last two years domestically and internationally, booking directly is the best.
