As an ISTP I also don’t recognize hierarchy. In a room filled with people who have mixed levels of success in life I will not be impressed or disappointed. Everyone gets treated exactly the same. Authority is suspicious and I will do anything to remove myself from under the thumb of any authority.

Exactly. I never understood celebrity idolization. I never understood why people would faint when they met a person that is well known. I always just think "they are just people and they have feelings too" 🤷‍♀️. I would just take a picture or just say hello and keep it moving with my life. I don't need a celebrity to recognize me or brag about because it's not that important. If they can help me with my goals later, then I may hit them up.

Eh I don't know if hierachy is the right word. Depends on who has the authority and the circumstances. I don't care for actors/musicians on political matters, I just see them as people and pitty how they can no longer just be "people." I think we just care about results. It doesn't matter if its an authority or a underling, as long as the statement is real, right, and true. Maybe if the room had a junkie in the corner, maybe we would talk as you can only know their character after meeting them. Maybe we would ignore them and invest our time on people we know "we don't have to save." I've randomly meet some people, and they don't seem terribly moved to save themselves, so I'm not terribly convinced to sacrifice parts of my world to save theirs. In a sense we do have a priority on who will help us and who will drag us down. Not to say all your friends will drag you down, its just that they exist, so you must as soft as a dove, and as wise as a serpent. We keep to our hole, so when we do make new friends, we must choose correctly.

I am the same way. However if this becomes habitual, then it will bleed into the people around you(so it better to get help and kill the dragon, than being terrorized and pretending its fine). Or your problems are too large, and you do need help. Get help, not because you are weak, but because its the most effienient thing to do(cause others will see through your deception after long enough/the problem is legitimately too big).

@@sueenguyenn For me its principled loyalty, as long as you have my best interest in mind, I will keep your best interest in mind. If we get bored after learning about each other, then talk about the future, or something else. Making conversation is odd cause it can just happen and continue somehow. I see how I need to schedule things to do, and invite people I care to do them with me. Kayaking, rockclimbing, surfing, snowboarding, fishing, hiking, etc. We get random bolts of energy, we have hobbies, maybe we can make a gift, or have our piece of work/creative hobbie be inspired by them. I can justify having this conversation lol also I like your name :) if they're doing a lot of things for u, always trying to help u, there when u ask them to be (most of the time) ... u can take it as a sign they're committed to u to degree. it's basically committed without formally saying committed...that scares the life out of us... i know that's probably frustrating but it's who we are lol like I said we don't waste time. if we felt it wasn't going well or didn't wanna see u we absolutely would not waste time we'd make excuse or we'd just bail just make sure your physical relationship is good.... ultra important to an istp male. we get bored easily and we rate physical way over vocal

@@Orisiya lol u live together and know his family.... believe me an istp would never be so invested with someone they don't like. the likelihood is he'll never really open up except for perhaps very odd occasions... but if ever u need him he'll 100% be there... it's just who we are. literally took me getting over 30 yrs old and a 3 year relationship before I remotely opened up to my ex lol. it doesn't matter who initiates as long as someone is. it's really good that u keep the physical side on it... that will keep the relationship tight with an istp. it's far worse with an istp if there no physical connection... we'll get bored quickly.... and if an istp isn't giving u physical (that includes time and just being present with u) that is when u should be worried. I bet he buys u stuff (maybe u have to ask tho) and he does stuff for u if u ask? very typical istp behaviour. judge the actions not the words. introducing u to his family and friends = big gesture. getting u something from the kitchen or making u tea/coffee when u ask = I love u babe ... lol erm varies from istp to istp on that, I studied psychology (amongst other things) I find body language and dynamics interesting. istp all like sitting back and observing gathering information that we can then use to help us advance (even socially) or make decisions. if u look on istp videos u'll probably see quite a few commenting. we like looking at data and trends IF it helps us practically. understanding my traits has helped me personally and professionally plus it helps me help others which istps value

Plus there's a lot of figuring things out, manipulating things in 3d in my mind, writing, working inside / outside, art / design, etc. Was going to be a vet but euthenasia would be as tough for me as my clients. I'm the one at your party in the corner, hanging out with your dog/cat and I couldn't handle "the talk" with someone. Plus- fossils are already dead! I actually could do the studying though. I loved reading/escaping into my own head. But sitting in 1st grade, figuring out that I'd be 3x as old when I got out of HS AND then I'd have to go to college if I wanted to earn a decent living?!? Ach! Ended up getting a BS in geology & a MS in biology but it took forever to get through. The mandatory hurdles were just soooooo stupid! Remember kids, it's only illegal if they catch you!!

I’ve been told i always dislike people i don’t know. I never really noticed, until i realized i am extremely quiet and reserved when it comes to people i am unfamiliar with, and am quick to always avoid conversations with strangers and always go to someone i am familiar with. But even people i hold strong bonds with, i never tell them any business about my life whatsoever, such as the seriousness of my addiction, one of the most important people in my life passing away, my eating disorder, and overall everything that goes on that they don’t see themselves or hear from others. I don’t know why i am this way, i took a 16 personalities test, got ISTP-T. And this video kind is oddly weird in how factual it is, as i am not a religious person, believer of the paranormal, coincidental, astrology, or directly defining particular personalities in humans, but this is pretty alright. I am, however, completely uninterested in anything that i do not deem worthy of my time. School, i do not care whatsoever about it. The only thing i am truly interested in and fully devote myself to is hockey. The human psyche is quite fascinating.

I have trouble expressing my emotions cause I barely understand them. I'm right now writing about something I can't even comprehend to the maximum extent. In short, I don't feel like my values, my principles, and in general my sentiments and emotions are as clear as they should be. I often try to figure out how I should feel by guessing how other types may be feeling but I quickly realise it's pointless as it's obviously impossibe to know what other people are thinking (even tho some people can get to a similar understanding of another people's thoughts if they are empathics enough). Sometimes, I feel like I do have emotions like other people but they are just suppressed for the most part. Sometimes, I feel like my soul isn't really fully connected to my body, like I have this spirit wondering many things like figuring out human emotions better and that control a lifeless body. All that i'm writing right now are mostly suppositions about what's going on in my tiny ass brain that can't figure out "simple" things. I'm not sure of anything, except the fact that I'm sure that I'm not sure about anything... I'm writing all this primarly not to hurt anyone's eyes (sorry about that messy paragraph) but to try and relate to another ISTP like me.

The most annoying things to me is when people want to change something based on their feelings. Today, cancel culture and this whole "being offended" thing is freaking me out, because all this is based on someones feeling and they want me to act a certain way because of their feelings even though it doesnt make any sense to me. Its difficult to talk about this whole gender identity thing rationally, because someone is labelling me as homophobic and transphobic just because i try to think logically and realistic. Those people can really make me rage...
@TarzanHedgepeth

Indeed. It’s retarded out there. Just remember to keep your cool. Self-control is paramount… and we’re not really living up to our standards of self-control if we’re not controlling ourselves. It’s not easy. I get the rage… because you feel like the only sane person around because you can’t stand all the foo-foo gaslighting and emotional manipulation, but you also can’t stand the self-righteous hypocrites. It’s like observing a bunch of crazy people. All the time. Just pick up an instrument or keep learning something else. Help the people God tosses in your path, let everyone else’s business remain their own - it isn’t likely that there is much you can do about that stuff except find every conceivable way to stay away from it when possible.

Does anyone have advice for how to handle too much Fe? I'm at a stage in my life where I know I need to get more balanced with my Fe. I have ptsd, and ptsd does not heal if you do not open up and accept help and process emotions. I hate all of the above so damn much, but if I choose not to recover I'd might as well save time by just going and dying faster. I don't plan to do that, so all that's left is to suck it up and put in the work. I do value people, I'm not as stubborn as I used to be. I see value in people's feelings and don't reject emotional arguments like I used to. But now I find myself overwhelmed by the demands of the Fe world and I compulsively overshare so that others are happy with me, and then I feel like I've violated myself after. The solution is to stop, but I cannot find the right balance between my boundaries and meeting the needs of others. It causes me to feel gripped and I have mood swings that violate me further. I want my independence back without being seen as a f*ckhead. I know I likely need to go out and get more experience, and live more life and be clumsy until I learn, but this has been an issue for years now and I'm just not sure if I'm focusing on the right area to balance this out. It's exhausting, when I'm alone I have meltdowns from the stress of it and I cannot comfort myself consistently. It burns to ask for help and help doesn't tend to console me either. Basically just years of silent screaming with a straight face. I've just gotten better at helping everyone else and punching holes in my own foundation because I don't want to be like the people who made me like this.

If the answer was, you probably won't, I usually got a D in that class because I stopped caring and just did enough to pass. Loved choir because I sing on a daily basis. I enjoyed English classes because I liked to learn to speak eloquently. Loved my computer classes because I'm a computer junkie and I enjoyed biology and botony because I liked to grow plants to eat. But I still keep saying things that are not always appropriate. Like stating facts that people find offensive though they are accurate. I cannot apply the tactics like " would this offend me" because nothing really offends me. Things are either facts which I will not feel offended by because this Is reality or opinions which I do not feel I need to care for enough to be offended.
