One more to add: GTA 5 has a side quest where you collect 50 "alien spaceship" parts for a hippie named Omega in the middle of some desert mountains. After collecting all 50 pieces as Franklin, you can return there to hand him the last piece where he'll show you an alien Dune Buggy he built & powered with the alien parts, although it looks more like an arts & crafts project than an alien vehicle. Cool thing is that now it's forever saved to your characters garages & you can spawn it in anytime you go to your garage. It has green headlights & plays random alien-ish sounds when you honk the horn.

It also falls *slightly* slower than other cars, giving it a "floaty" feeling.

It's just the standard dune buggy with a visual change, though I think it performs a BIT better - I find that the funniest part, that's it's essentially just the dune buggy, like the one commonly found parked by the beach in the top left quadrant of the map (I go for it every time I'm killed close enough to spawn at that hospital, I cut straight towards the ocean to try to find the most decent and reliable vehicle in the area parked on the Lakeshore road)

Auntie Poulet's tea makes a bit of sense in context. In the early to mid-00's there were urban legends floating around certain parts of the internet about tourists getting drugged in Central and South America with a local plant that would render them highly suggestible and willing to follow almost any instructions, waking up the next morning with no memories, belongings, or alibis for whatever crime they'd been tranced into committing earlier. Seems like the developers heard similar stories (wish I recalled the name of the plant, but I, uh, strangely can't remember).

And also the long standing Voodoo Powder legend that is popular among Haitians and New Orleans. Some Voodoo practitioners can create "Zombies" with a magic powder. These zombies follow the witchdoctor's orders until they are given something salty, or sweet depending on the legend. The legend tells of entire plantation islands filled with "zombies" under the thrall of a single witchdoctor.

i believe the plant you mean is called devil's breath or Scopolamine, that according to stories renders you highly influencable after you breath it in. Although maybe these claims are a bit much and it isn't quite mind control, but the plant can also lead to memory loss. Stories say, it was used in columbia as a kind of roofie drug.

Not an urban legend. Scopolamine. Pretty much completely removes all inhibitions and ability to reason, and takes an incredibly tiny amount to create the effect.

One thing about the grass roots mission, it's at least speculated that the hallucinations happen bc of trauma and nightmares and fears of each character. Trevor is afraid of his past (childhood trauma with clowns) and Michael of the future (aliens). Which means Franklin is already living his nightmare bc he's scared of the present and so he doesn't get hallucinations (also bc he's a more vivid weed smoker than the other two)

The oddest thing I can remember from any GTA, is a main mission in GTA2 for the Russian Mafia. In which you had to steal a bus, drive past bus stops, and when you had enough passengers, drive them to the hot dog factory where they're processed into hot dogs. You can literally hear them crying.

Imagine getting a side mission where you have to either raid Area 51, or stop the raid. They like to play on certain real world events, and that was so over the top. I can't help but wonder why no other game has made fun of it yet.

Because in reality, it didn't become much of anything, & only a small handful of people ever showed up. Besides, it's been 4 years now since the Area 51 Raid memes ended, & it's a little too late to capitalize on the meme, most people probably wouldn't even remember it.

With how long game development takes, the real world situation was long over by the time a storyboard would have been ready to go unless the game was made by the standard Unity assets flipper game found in the depths of Steam.

I think the Truth’s second side quest with the jet pack should be here where you steal the green stuff for him off the train. It’s just the overly secretive way he acts afterward when he takes the green goop from CJ talking about how it’ll change the world only for him to never bring it up again.

I remember playing that gta 3 mission. My uncle used to have a ps2 and that game and I would just drive around killing people and repaint cars. He got bored one day and asked me to do missions. I remember doing that mission and never knew why we were delivering cars. (I was younger then 8 at the time)

The zombies in VCS makes sense since it's for a film, what doesn't make sense is why a man building a drug empire thought this was worth his time, why he was qualified and why there was no one on the film set more qualified, even on an 80's film set that makes no sense. Even if they know he kills people, how does that equate to fake killing people? It's like if in Scarface Tony passed a film set and the stunt driver was injured so Tony has to drive a Cadillac through a wheel of fire. The zombies were the most plausible part of the whole mission.

Similar to the one featured here from GTA 3, in GTA 2 you collect people for the Russian faction by pretending to be a city bus (or a hippie bus collecting Krishna in the PlayStation version). After which you deliver them to a meat processing plant to be turned into hotdogs. They really love alternative meat sources in the GTA universe it seems 😂

There was a mission in GTA2 in the industrial district called R.S. and L Bows (or hotdog homicide in the states) where the Russian Mafia tasked you with stealing a bus, picking up random pedestrians and delivering them to a slaughterhouse. There, they are stripped and forced onto a conveyer belt leading them to a meat grinder. You can hear them crying and pleading for their life and getting shot when they try to run. Russian Mafia leader Jerkov (yes, that's his name) then orders you to deliver this fresh meat to a diner where his own troops eat. Worth noting in the PS1 version instead of picking up random pedestrians you collected members of a rival gang (well, as much of a gang as the Hare Krishna can be called) and got them slaughtered because that's apparently better?

I gotta point out - Claude Speed is the protagonist of GTA II and a tie-in movie. The protagonist of GTA III is initially nameless, but in San Andreas we learn that his name is Claude. There's no definitive evidence that it's the same Claude though. In fact, Rockstar claims that 2D, 3D and HD universes are three different uncrossing places. Yet, there are characters like El Burro, who appears in the O.G. GTA and GTA III as different characters, even though he looks the same; the Band love First, the members of which appear in both HD and 3D; and radio hosts and all the mess related to it, all of which kind of break both this and the fourth wall real hard.

In the USA, marijuana is explicitly illegal at the federal level, which technically nullifies any state-level legalization legislation. Weed is “legal” only as long as the feds don’t challenge the states.

Only legal in a majority for medical use (38 of 50)...recreational is legal in 24. As for the federal legalization, that is likely to be pushed harder when recreational is legalized in more than 50% of the states...and it's likely to be pushed through fairly quickly after it has been introduced (partially due to the fact that it's "legal" in D.C. of all places, but mostly due to the money it brings in).

Now you guys should have a look into the weird side quests of Yakuza aka like a dragon aka Ryu Ga Gotoku. You will find so many good and weird missions.

In GTA Online, there's a Resupply mission for your Bunker where you have to steal an Alien Egg. You have to have done 600 Resupply missions first, and it only appears after that between the times of 21:00 and 23:00. You head for the riverside just outside the fence of Fort Zancudo, and if you're in a vehicle - including aircraft - it will suddenly stop working once you get within a certain range of a crashed alien ship, which can be unfortunate if you're in the aforementioned aircraft. The alien ship is surrounded by inert military vehicles and FIB SUVs, as well as the bodies of numerous scientists and soldiers. Underneath the overhang of the alien ship is the Alien Egg, in the middle of some mud that severely slows you down. Once you grab the Egg, a bunch of aliens suddenly materialize via teleporter around you, but will quickly Nope the heck out and dematerialize as soon as you open fire. Suddenly most of the vehicles*, including yours, are working again and you can bring the Alien Egg back to your Bunker without further incident. *The Rhino Tanks can't be taken.

In GTA3 you are not playing as Claude Speed, Claude Speed is a protagonist of an earlier gta, Claude in GTA3 just happens to have the same first name. Rockstar developers have stated this before.

the truth missions aint actually side missions, hes part of the actual story, you need him to help the police get rid of some witnesses by his drugs, then when you helped them he gets raided by said police since you work for both the police and him and he wasnt needed anymore, that isnt really clear in the beginning, as the person calling you in the cabin doesnt tell his name. also in vice city theres a whole side mission helping love fist trough town in a few missions and the last one is when they rigged the car to explode if you dont drive a sertain speed
