The thing I love about the VR treadmill rig is that it will cause your friends to sit watching you play and then clap when you finish. I assume that's included.

My husband and I got to play a short game on them. It's much more difficult to actually walk on it than it seems; there's a reason the guy in the video had military-level muscle definition, lmao. Plus, the games we had access to were very short, glitchy, and underwhelming. So yeah, that would explain why it's so cheap: it's unintuitive and weak, basically.

Is it bad that the Vr Treadmill actually seems close to a rational price for how cool it would be to use? I mean my bank account can’t even touch it, but if it COULD, I gotta admit I’d be tempted. One baby-step closer to Sword Art Online…ya know…without all the…death.

Do you have a couch that's comfortable to lie down on, with its back against a wall sturdy enough to attach hardware mounts to? Because getting a decent 4k monitor and putting it on a swing-out arm so it folds against the wall when you aren't using it but floats above the middle of the couch when you want, plus a wireless keyboard and mouse, is surprisingly cheap. Especially if your rear couch cushion makes for a decent mousepad.

I've always found it strange when companies focus around designer items feel the need to take hobbies that can already be a bit pricey to enjoy and hike the price even more out of the common hobbyists price range, if you're throwing that much money at it, it's more than likely that you don't even enjoy that hobby, you just like having another thing to fling money at.

The keyboard is probably the least-comparatively-expensive item on the list, considering how custom mechanical keyboards that look like garbage often go for like $500 with keycaps
@NottherealLucifer
@NottherealLucifer Жыл бұрын
When comparing how expensive an item is we don't just compare it to other items that do exactly as it does, we also compare it to the base item it's built on. As such we don't compare it to a $500 keyboard, we compare it to normal keyboards. As such it's possibly the most comparatively expensive items on the list. That aside keyboards with keycaps aren't $500 on average, you can get plenty of brands of them for under $100 apparently and that took like twenty seconds of searching to figure out.

@@NottherealLucifer Yeah, but with some exceptions (thank god for Keychron) a *good* mechanical keyboard (even a non-custom one) is likely going to run you well over $100. I've seen some that are often recommended as "budget starting keyboards" around $200 or more.

While nowhere near as pricey as all the things in this video, it cost $650, with each game being more than $100. In exchange you got a 1:1 experience with the arcade and much more advanced graphics than those baby gamers who had to stick with Sega and Nintendo. For what it is, the VR treadmill is definitely the most affordable and worth it. Fully functional movement in VR games without any risk of crashing into a wall, the ability to sprint, and the sheer level of immersion, not to mention the advanced setup to make sure everything is tracked right, and under $3000 for such a setup. I could see these being used sometime in the future for a special variety of esports games. A shooter game but every player has to be using one of those, so the less physically fit players get slower and slower as they get tired in the real world, combining the need for training both in the digital world and the physical.

There is one critical drawback of all gaming accessories, be they cheap or expensive. They are so frequently designed with just one game type in mind. From arcade joysticks that are intended for fighting games and could benefit from a second stick to serve as an extra durable primary controller, to steering wheel and pedals that can only be used for driving. The question is, what are you going to do when you get bored of even your favourite racing game and the driving kit you bought is just sitting there, taking up space? You could try “driving” your way through other games that don’t involve driving sections. Or stuff it in the cupboard with all the other tat(I’ve still got DK bongos). The problem is the specificity of controller design. After the default controller for a console is designed, there doesn’t seem to be much appetite for creating controllers that have interesting features and can apply to a range of games.

the treadmill concept without VR exclusive games i think is going be the next step of interactive game play, the kinetic, wii , and others focus on whole body movement, but they have to lower the price first

Or introduce the concept into public consciousness via VR arcades first. But yeah, that one is the sort of thing that I wouldn't be at all surprised to see start cropping up in amusement parks and shit.

I'm sure you've done a video similar to this, but I think a fun video to do would be seven cutest creatures in games that you had to kill/destroy.

That VR treadmill thing, I always thought that kind of a 360degree treadmill would of been good for VR, but more for entertainment locations, rather than as a home product.

That VR rig isn't just unecessarily expensive, it's outrageously exhausting. The average gamer can barely stand up and keep an arm outstretched to shoot with for more than an hour, let alone run and jump! I mean, look at Luke's Planet of the Apes video! Luke was sitting down!

I wish the VR treadmill was more affordable. VR is amazing for fitness purposes, especially as someone who is inactive due to PE class trauma. The immersion is the big thing, too. All we could do is wait for some healthy competition to keep the prices reasonable.

Did the extravagant prices make me feel angry? No, what irked me the most is the fact that they named that computer Zeus Jupiter. It's that moment in Spiderman: Across the Spider-verse where Pavitr Prabhakar reprimands Miles Morales for saying 'chai tea'.

Jane knows what's up. I'm not anywhere near being made of money, but I'll never regret buying a used Herman Miller Aeron chair, which is by far the most luxurious "gaming accessory" I own. Also; spending a fortune on a giant curved monitor with washed-out colours bundled with a ridiculous racing sim rig just to ram into the other cars? - 10:25 😂😂 And those tiny bargain bin office speakers is just the ridiculous cherry on top 😅

With the racing sims, bear in mind real teams and drivers use sim games to practice and memorize the tracks dating back to the old Papyrus NASCAR games in the 90's, so they can probably sell to that audience.

I remember mentioning way long ago that proper VR could be, idk, a vr arcare with players investing in either accounts, usbs, or something to that matter to save their progress on whatever games they were playing, and just have a limited time to play them in said arcades. Like, idk, pay an hour or half hour to get strapped into a solo vr room to play a multiplayer game with other vr players, or to play from a library of games, or bring your own or something. renting/ entry fees would probably be cheaper than owning a whole vr set up (treadmill style set up, not just headset) and you wouldnt have to worry about maintenance or whatever. i think the treadmill is neat, the price makes sense, but it's still not easily accessible, plus it's a bulky item not everyone would have the room for. Same as the expensive car simulator, you'd be better off going to a fancy arcade.
