I know it’s looked down upon but I actually do like Blanton’s my Costco sells it for $99 so when I see it at the other liquor stores close to it I still get it for $106, 109. I have other cheaper bottles we use for cocktails and on the rocks when we’re barbecuing and entertaining. I’ve been trying many different bourbons from different distillers, different price points and different proofs. So far I have to say I still prefer Blanton’s but I’m also new to bourbons. I got a bottle of Stag and I got to say I’m no where near ready to truly enjoy “the juice” for now I still prefer lower proof bottles. I’m curious so I’ll keep checking whatever I find interesting, it would be awesome to find something I truly enjoy that is available and affordable, but I can’t lie to myself and for now that one is my favorite and I’ve bought three bottles so far 😂😂😂. Started drinking whisky this summer by the way… looking for new hobbies. I like Hibiki Harmony as well it smells delicious but taste wise it’s very different.

Blanton's is a great bourbon but the Buffalo Trace engineered scarcity is painful. It is rarely, readily available at MSRP in certain markets. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers at www.skool.com/schoolofwineandspirits/about. Cheers!!

Basics for 20. Great for 35 really good for 50 to 60 then up to 100 for really good. 100 or close commands at least cask I won't go over 120. It's worth it for anything

In my opinion all of these would be worth having at MSRP. I don’t believe anything is worth paying secondary for. Unfortunately some of you recommendations for alternatives are just about as hard to find in my area, like any Weller products. I have yet to see any on a shelf at any store in my area.

This video hit the nail on the head. Eagle Rare is one of the funniest bourbons to me. People talk about it nowadays like it is a top shelf bourbon. It is decent and I would never be mad at someone offering me a glass but the craze that has surrounded this stuff since it became harder to find is ridiculous. I would never in my life seek this bourbon out with how many alternatives there are at its price point that blow it out of the water, the list is endless.

Appreciate the vid. Several comments: A. The rarity of the first 3 on the list should just be mentioned along with 2nd'ary market prices shouldn't be aid period. B. Weller 12yr, I made an analysis of the top 5 bourbon tube channels that made Weller lineup single blind videos over past 4 years. Out of the 6, the Weller 12yr finished average of 6th place just a few tenths of points behind the special reserve . C. Looking at your shelves you easily spend $60 ++ on NDP bottles, so i like that you're basically recommending to help people forget about the garbage diamond barrons of bourbon the Buffalo Trace Dist. i.e.Sazerac. They have good stuff but they have created over value and scarcity and it shouldn't be aided. So listen up people to his video and don't be a bunch of enablers of bad BT behavior.

It’s right around $65 in my area over the last couple years. I have picked up several bottles for that price. It’s OK. Back in June, I was in the right place at the right time and snagged a bottle of Blantons straight from the barrel for around 160 bucks at 130 proof

I’m not necessarily for price controls across the board, but a lot of stores are now the ones setting the secondary market prices it seems-by charging secondary market price. That is capitalism for sure, but the market can only sustain this for so long and the bottom is gonna drop out. That’s gonna leave the stores and distilleries in a world of hurt when they have products they can’t move. The $20 bottles will sell all day everyday, but these high mark ups will sit.

I bought my old roommate a bottle of Blanton's single barrel as a birthday present a few years ago specifically because I knew it was his favorite. I got a glass as a thankyou, and must say it didn't seem worth what I paid, though I am far from a tasting champion or perfectionist. Twas good, but I was underwhelmed. I guess I was not the only one. Good asterisk at the beginning and end, though: the best bourbons are the ones the drinker likes the best 👍

Your pricing is great. Blanton’s at msrp in my area is $85. At msrp I’d buy GTS but that will take a miracle. Years ago I had Jefferson’s ocean cask strength and it was good when it was $80. I got a lot of salted caramel.

Informative video, good detail and it's nice to have some suggested alternatives. Just a note, I'm.not having trouble finding Eagle Rare 10 year for $48-58. It's good but Knob Creek 9 year, Rare Breed and Woodford Reserve Double-Oaked are better IMO 🥃🥃

I generally agree with you but the reason that the Buffalo trace whiskeys are so pricey is because they are uniquely fruity and lack that peanut or banana quality that every other large distillery has. Larceny is a wheater sure but it is miles apart flavor wise. Here’s the thing about hype, it’s there for a reason. Overhyped sure but any Buffalo trace whiskey at MSRP is a buy.

I work in a liquor store in Bardstown Kentucky & that statement that you made I disagree with completely: hype hype hype! There are many better whiskeys than the Buffalo Trace status symbols...

@@MarkHicks326 if love to be wrong. The only things I’ve had that hold a candle to stagg and 107 are disco 11 and Joseph Magnus. Both are 2-3x more expensive. So what should I be buying because I’ve had everything in this video and I’d still buy the Buffalo trace prices (except BTAC and pappy) that is hype when stagg and 107 simply exist

Interesting video. Agree with the general message: STAY AWAY FROM HYPED MSRP MULTIPLES. I wish some of the more popular You Tubers would preach this message. Making alternative suggestions is always tricky business, but I think age and proof need to be matched as closely aa mash bill. For example I would substitute the Calumet 16 for the Pappy 23 instead of the Weller Full Proof. To me the Pappy and Weller offer totally different experiences. Thanks for the vid!

You might have put the wrong title on the video. Why not say to avoid any Buffalo Trace product? I have yet to pay secondary for any of these products but I have tried BT, Eagle Rare, and Blanton's and in my opinion they all have a unique flavor profile and are all really good which makes them a good buy at MSRP any day of the week. I do agree with the Four Roses SiB being a good option and I like it a lot but Blanton's is just above it so still a good buy in the $60-$70 range to enjoy on limited occasions.

I got Eagle rare for 30 and got 4 bottles yes it’s good but certainly not worth anything over msrp. Most of your picks are pretty good and worth looking for however the gimmick whiskey like Jefferson isn’t worth getting period. If you can find a cask strength AE you should try it but don’t over pay for any bottle ever!!

at msrp pappy worth it. and yeah not really valid argument to use secondary price for one item and then use msrp not secondary price for the other comparable item.... to justify why paying secondary price for first is not worth it. you should compare secondary to secondary. or msrp to msrp. doing it one time maybe ok but when you repetitively do this fake comparison then it is unacceptable. comparing Blanton's to four roses is no where near the same flavor profile. cocktails with george t stagg. enough crap
