One of our biggest inspirations 😍😍😍 Me (Designer) LOVES all formats of this. Vanilla, Agora, Pantheon, and Both, all 4 are unique enough to offer a variety of high skill ceiling experiences. It's sick.

You probably should have mentioned in closing, the Pantheon expansion, as many consider it 'essential', and how it affects the game and issues presented. ..Also making it an even more pricey card game.

I have not played the expansion, so couldn't really comment on it. In general, the 3 minute reviews of games only cover the base as most expansions are out of scope.

Not played Catan rivals so can't comment on that. But 7 wonders duel is very well regarded by many others over Catan rivals.

I liked this game. It's a fairly light game and acts as a filler while you wait for the rest of the group to show up. I wouldn't say next to no luck as you can be pretty unlucky if your end up not getting resource that you need for the wonders and your opponent has it. But as a filler game, I would be always up to play one.

Yeah, but you can normally see a fair few turns in advance what's available to draw. And if you are not getting that resource, its not really luck, its because the other player took it or burned it

I'm not as big a fan of Duel as I am of the original game. It's not that I think duel isn't a very good game, but i'm such a fan of the original that its a hard shadow to step out from. What other games have "sibling rivalries" like this where you favour one over the other. I know I like Caverna over Agircola, and Roll for the Galaxy over Race, while still liking all 4 games. Are there any where one version is great, but the other a pile of pants?

Good answer. I've only played KoT and it is a random dice chucker, and I looked at New York and backed off because it just looked like adding more stuff to a pretty random game.
