As deceptive as Kreia proved to be, IIRC she doesn't ever outright lie. With enough influence, she openly admits to being a Sith Master, and enough of a threat for the other too members of the Sith triumvirate to gang up on her. Keep in mind: she was shaping you into a tool to kill the force itself, not to be a model Jedi or Sith.
@atomblaze8216 жыл бұрын
Well she lies if you follow the Jedi way plus if you turn your Force Sensitive members to the light side she refuses to join the party on certain planets. If you slide towards the dark side, she uses you and your cohorts to spread her will on other Siths and Dark Lords and she tells you her plan to destroy the Force itself because she hates life that much.
@lordvarrax50606 жыл бұрын
She does not hate life. That is completely untrue. She even says herself that there is no victory in killing all life. She wants to see the Force die because it is manipulative and does not carry how many lives are lost to achieve its game of balance.

Truth be told, his line "A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to." should tell you that he cannot be relied on and that he'll come up with some nonsense excuse when he fails to properly ment.
@Halloweenman337 жыл бұрын
The idea for getting to Mount Doom was to be as stealthy as possible. The eagles would have been spotted from miles away and intercepted. Plus, Gandalf doesn't command them. They are friendly neutrals who helped Gandalf because they owed him a favor after Gandalf saved their leader's life. Beyond that, they would have refused to fly the entire Fellowship to Mount Doom because that would have been suicide. They showed up at the end because they felt that Frodo had earned their help

Might have something to do with the Eye of Sauron being able to spot the ring and a few of the Ringwraiths having flying mounts that are quite a bit more powerful than a giant eagle. All the large battles were distractions necessary for keeping Sauron's attention away from Frodo.

I don't know if Kreia fits this list, despite her betrayal and manipulation, her teachings actually were extremely valuable and she did care about the Exile and genuinely wanted them to learn. Her idea of the force was very pragmatic and lacked the light and dark narrow-minded philosophy of the jedi or sith. The Exile used Kreia's teachings to defeat both Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion, both of which would have been unbeatable otherwise. True, she had a deep madness and wanted to destroy the force, but that made it all the more meaningful when the Exile finally confronted her and they dueled physically, spiritually, and philosophically. Kreia ended up learning from the Exile and was finally able to find peace before death. I really don't think Kreia should be in the same category as Rahm Kota.

Thing is, this list isn't just about incompetence. It's also about mentors who are abusive and/or using you for some twisted scheme. Her teachings may be of use, but Kreia's still treating you as a pawn in her plot to destroy the Force, trying to lead you astray with her myopic excuse for a moral compass, and being an abusive dick to half your party as well as various NPCs. Also, her teachings have nothing to do with your defeating Darth Nihilus. _That_ is down to your screwy Force connection, which you had before you ever met the old baggage, giving his large-scale Force Drain indigestion.

The Star Wars Universe might be better without the Force. No individual could accumulate enough power to rule the whole Galaxy. Just have to keep an eye out for the droids. The Light/Dark struggle is super dumb and "balance" doesn't seem to be able to be achievable. Trying to be good seems to lead to the dark ruling until it implodes cause "the Force seeks balance".

But he was kind of a shit mentor to Shay himself. Yeah, Shay could've been a bit more diplomatic with the whole "destroyed cities" thing - it's not like he didn't have weeks or months at sea to work through what happened at Lisbon before getting back to the colonies and completely blowing his top - but Achilles probably could've caught onto the whole "earthquake in both places you were looking for Precursor artifacts" thing if he had bothered to actually pay attention to what set Shay off so completely. Connor's American moniker of Connor, given by Achilles, was the name of Achilles own deceased son, which you can find on a gravestone at the Davenport homestead, but it is very difficult to read. P.S. Eagle vision helps immensely. What about "7 game choices that have a painfully obvious wrong one". Such as kill your girlfriend in Far Cry 3, Refusal ending in Mass Effect 3, trusting Handsome Jack in Tales from the Boderlands episode 4, all the bad ones in cod Black ops, etc

I never understood the "Don't kill your arch nemesis after you defeated him because you're better than him blah blah don't bring yourself down to that level blah blah you'll be tempt by the dark side blah blah". You won't kill your mortal enemy but killing thousands of his henchmen is just fine I guess.

What about Master Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep? *Spoilers for Birth By Sleep, just in case:* He almost kills Ventus by forcefully extracting the darkness from his heart, and he manipulates Terra into succumbing to his darkness so that Master Xehanort can essentially hijack Terra's body, AND he almost destroys the world to summon Kingdom Hearts... OUT OF CURIOSITY. Oh, and he effectively causes all the bad stuff that happens from Kingdom Hearts 1 through Kingdom Hearts 2, and everything in between (that is, all the handheld games). Presumably Kingdom Hearts 3, too.

Henry Green isn't a mentor to Evie and Jacob Frye. He just happens to be the only Assassin still operating in London and the one in charge of managing its base. This is also why he's not good in the field because by that point, Assassin roles became more specialized, and he was trained more in the support role than in combat operations. Jacob and Evie's mentor was the guy in the beginning who told them not to go to London.
@SerathDarklands6 жыл бұрын
0:56 - Vader's a terrible mentor. He continually throws Galen Marek at Jedi Masters who are more powerful than he is, expecting him to die, then stabs him in the back (literally and metaphorically). Also, Kreia was an EXCELLENT mentor, if you pay attention. She shows you the hypocrisy of the Jedi and the folly of the Sith. She teaches you stand on your own two feet, and how to do whatever it takes to survive. Her teachings were the ones that made Revan as strong as he was. And, it's Darth Traya, not Darth Trayus.

Here's a spin: how about the high chaos ending in Dishonored? It's a stretch since the *player* is the mentor, but I raise an eyebrow* at Corvo's "murder is the solution" approach to raising young children who are to become sovereigns. (I did like Emily's evil paintings, though.) * You may interpret this as, "I raise an eyebrow at my own behavior as a so-called hero," but I shaved my eyebrows off in that regard as soon as games started giving me rifles and places to hide.

Kreia? Guys, don't mix "evil" with "incompetent". Kreia played the Exile like a fiddle, and that was her goal all along.
@ZeldaTheSwordsman4 жыл бұрын
Thing is, this list is about "evil" too. Playing you like a fiddle and abusing your allies whenever your back is turned still qualifies her as a bad mentor.

And let us not forget Agate, Assassin Mentor in Liberation. Who gets pissed at Aveline for wanting to know more about her mother after discovering that he actually knew her. And then, later, when you rush Aveline to the bayou to tell him that you discovered who the Templar leader was (spoiler alert: her stepmother), she's accused of betraying the Assassins and turning Templar! And then attacks you!
