Indeed! Great job of the developers to make something so intricate and full of details :) and amazing work of xLetalis! :). It also is interesting to note that the witch-hunts in a way are event that happens canonically in the future in the books as well :) as most of the sorceresses die on the stake, also the love affairs of various nilfgaardian soldiers with the nordling women is also what happens to one of hte girls from temple of Melitele at the end of the books! :) I don't know if those are merely similes or parallels intentional or not but it does have a very book feel :). "... Katja...' 'Tell me, child,' Nenneke gently urged. 'Katja,' Eurneid cleared her throat, 'met a wounded Nilfgaardian in the hospital. After the conclusion of the peace, when the prisoners where exchanged, she went with him to Nilfgaard.' 'I've always said,' sighed the priestess, 'that love knows no boundaries." Witcher, Lady of the Lake Katja is one of the girls who was Ciri's sort of 'classmate' in the books :), while she stayed and was schooled in the temple in Ellander in Blood of Elves. By the way xLetalis I wonder how fun it would be with your talent for picking out such small details, I wonder how you would analyze the Hexer series hehe :)...well the polish series has it's share of faults there's no two words about that, though I wonder what your reactions would be, thoughts and impressions, the main problem is of course you'd have to rely on the subtitles, it's in polish obviously hehe.

Geralt's one line with Ciri when she cries is interesting. He says, "killing monsters in forgotten villages." It seems to suggest she's making the wrong decision as empress, that no matter what she does the regular people will continue to suffer. It's bleak in its own way.
@flo85172 жыл бұрын
I love that. Thank you for noticing and combining that!
@Tomcat_Coyote Жыл бұрын
I don't think it implies that the Empress ending is a wrong decision, but as we know it, the world of the Witcher is pretty grim and there's no turning it into a happy fairy tale. I think it serves to emphasise the fact that whatever you do, you can't fix everything and no Ending is perfect. Regular people are always going to suffer somewhat, especially in the aftermath of a War when there's a lot of rebuilding to do, Monsters have been agitated by Armies on the moves, all the deaths have attracted Necrophages etc...
@Kyle-hf7ji9 ай бұрын
Empress ending makes sense, since she can make bigger changes in the world while ruling the most powerful nation, she knows how to fight, has Emhyr and Philippa to teach her politics and has Geralt's humbleness, the "becoming a witcher" ending just feels like a childish decision, running away from all responsibilities in order to live a lifestyle that is not hers, since she's not an actual witcher, just like Philippa said in the Sunstone quest she would be throwing her life away by not becoming Empress.
@KIVagant9 ай бұрын
@@Kyle-hf7ji , I agree with this. Throughout the game, Ciri behaves self-confidentally. Her actions, decisions, and powers are far beyond being a monster slayer. All of that struggle, extensive journeys, fights for her world's future, and to give it all up at the end and run away? Sounds too simple to me. During my first playthrough some years back, I missed visiting Emhyr and was disappointed by the ending, even though it was generally good. Trying to be a father to his daughter, I doubt Geralt would want her to run in some bogs and sewers all her life. And she, probably, would quickly become bored of that with her super-human abilities. Same as Yen in their supposed "happy end in a forgotten hut." I followed the "canon" story bonding with Yen, but no way that would work for them. They can only love each other at a considerable distance.

The witcher 3 is an eternal game, a timeless masterpiece from history to graphics to music (I still remember the soundtrack of skellige, not to mention that of novigrad or velen, they are all masterful pieces). in this game everything is close to perfection (apart from the Combat system, which I really appreciated). I mean, I finished this game a few weeks ago (including all the dlc's) and I am constantly homesick for skellige, for Toussaint .... the witcher 3 has been an epic journey, which I will never forget.

@@Leon1910s Once Ciri's scene in the Tower finishes, you're transfered to Velen, a week later. A cutscene plays where Geralt examines the fancy cookies that once led the path of treats, when he hears a noice. He'll say, 'a werewolf is near' and you get control again. You approach the werewolf, who'll explain he's no longer a threat to people, because he's too hungry to hunt and to please get the cubs of a nearby den and save them. Geralt says he's there for him, oddly enough, but wants him to take him to the Crone. He asks why, since she's a dangerous creature, and he explains the Crone has his daughter's medallion. When the werewolf offers he buy a new necklace and his daughter will get over it, Geralt flat out admits his daughter's dead and won't get over it. You can either spare the werewolf, or not. If you spare him, he'll lead you to the Crone but you bump on the people who've captured the female wolf before her cubs nearby. There, you can choose to ignore them or kill them. No matter what you do, both the she-wolf and her remaining cub are left to die, either with the line xLetalis points out, or with the werewolf saying 'only one cub survives' and Geralt replies 'we don't have time'. Even though you can control him, there's no way to save the cub (in fact I can't even see it, the den appears empty). Eventually you make it to the orphanage, where Weavess awaits, already aware of Ciri's death. Geralt asks Berem, the werewolf, to stay out of this, leave and go look for the good life, with a wife and kids/cubs(?). Weavess mocks him, telling him he's afraid and all is lost, because they're surrounded by dozens of monsters whose brethren he slew for a handful of coins. In the shadows of the swamp, all sorts of necrophages stir. Geralt replies 'I feel don't feel anything anymore'. All the monsters attack, which triggers a boss fight. Once you win, Geralt speeds to the corpse and searches it, but finds nothing on it. He trashes the entire Crone shrine until he finds the medallion in a small box. He sits down exhausted, clutches it and appears completely broken. His eyes are closed, as monsters creep around the hut. The end.

@Eth779302 жыл бұрын
@@quintonmiller8266 I kind of like Dijkstra. I could still live with killing him... if that did not mean that Nilfgaard wins the war. Because Radovid may be a madman, but he wont be a king a forever. But if Nilfgaard conquers North - with Foltest dead and Temeria vassal state of Roche&co, with Demavend, Henselt, Radovid, Dijkstra dead, Rivia&Meve possibly a vassal? - then that is forever. North is Nilfgaard. There will be no one to fight back, no one to rebel. Not in the near future at least, and 20-30 years from now, people will just get used to it, and any chance of overthrowing Nilfgaard will be gone. Killing Radovid & Dijkstra a have Ciri become the empress is a solution, but she just wants to live a "normal" life - so that is a no. Killing Radovid & Dijsktra so that Emhyr rules North - no. Killing Radovid & Roche, Ves and Thaler, so that Dijkstra rules North - no. So I do not meddle. Radovid wins the war, Nilfgaard pulls back, and with Emhyr's death, Ciri is left in peace (hopefully), Nilfgaard focuses on internal political struggles for a while (hopefully), and few months/year from now, maybe some gets rid of Radovid (Dijkstra, Temerians, Phillipa, anyone).
@agilemind62412 жыл бұрын
@@Eth77930 I could never let Radovid live, but I've done both kill and let win Dijkstra. I think for White Orchard, the Temerian ending is the best. @@christinaac it makes a lot of sense that they would all be included as one complete ending. Something ends, something begins 1, 2 and 3 are little clues. They all happen after an amount of time and the “worst ending” is the earliest while the Witcher ending comes next and empress a little later. None of the endings even suggest the last happened or didn’t happen either. It’s almost hard for me to try and convince myself it’s just a coincidence. I’d like to hear why you don’t think so though. I still play this game every now and then, just to roam around and listen to ard skellig every time, and it's been a long time, and WAOH! it's amazing how things are yet to be found. Can't wait for witcher 4 and hopefully play as geralt again and your contents are amazing. Thank you!

I feel like I'm happy to close Geralt's story and move to another character or a sort of create your own type.
@ericjtt2 жыл бұрын
@@mca1881 I haven't got any closure yet, I still think there's a chance to play as geralt like in the final moment of the mission, " the final age" ciri says " "What do you know about saving the world, silly? You are but a witcher. This is my story, not yours. You must let me finish telling it." that moment I feel like was the end of something, but blood and wine was just the beginning of geralt's story. I just love this game so much, too many choices and there can be so many outcomes.

It’s kind of insane. I was really hesitant about buying a 5 almost 6 year old game. Even if I loved the books. But it was greatly discounted. And had great reviews so I figured it was worth a shot. Best decision ever made. Probably the best game I’ve ever played.

I don't know if anyone has said this before, or even if it was intentional from the developers or not, but the way Geralt finishes off Weavess is very similar to Ciri's attempt at taking back Vesemir's medallion during the Sabbath, i.e. by throwing the sword at her. I can't remember any other time I saw someone do such a move during this game, but correct me if I'm wrong

oh yes, that is very likely a reference to how Ciri didn't quite manage to do it but Geralt did

Yes a constant theme in these stories is the people caught in the middle between the heroes (if there are any at all) and villains are always the ones to suffer most. The Witcher world is brutal and believable.

I personally prefer nilfgaurd winning the war along side the bitter sweet ending (empress ending). Nilfgaurd may be a strict empire but they do allow for magic, mages and other things that the other empires and states would kill people for. They don’t give an easy life but in my eyes it’s a lot more fair than the others.

@@runeercool1 I agree (btw Ciri the Empress was my first true ending of TW3), but the notion of the goodness of Nilfgaardian rule as fundamentally more just and humane surprised me. Before the beginning of Ciri's rule, it clearly was not like that.

Great video. I wanted to mention in my last play through I noticed a couple things I'm not sure if you mentioned before in past videos. First, regarding the Tower of Mice quest (or something like that, the quest Keira gives you after you go through the old elven ruins and find the magic lantern which allows you to talk to ghosts). When you reach the second floor of the tower, if you stand over where the large chandelier on the floor, then use the lamp to see the noble talking to Annabell (I think that's her name) and you pane it so the guard who shows up to report the attack of the peasants, you can see Annabell's wraith form. I also noticed if you continue holding the lamp as you go up the stairs you will catch glimpses of her, especially when things fall or crash just as you approach each floor. The other thing is way in Novigard, when you are looking for the Putrid Grove for the first time, of you follow the beggars but are not to subtle about it, catching up to them and continuing to do so even after Geralt mentions being too close, then fall back...eventually the thief will confront you and there's a nice new bit of dialogue there. You can intimidate him to convince him to lead you to the grove but he leads you into an ambush. Not sure if you tried this before.

I love how it’s been 7 years and there are still missed details. I had heard of the dwarves encounter and Tomira but it’s great to have a more detailed account of it. I am reading the books at the moment and it’s so interesting to see how the game connects with them by small details. I think I remember a comment about the doppler in Novigrad who pretended to be the eternal fire priest. Or that Priscilla looks like Little Eye. It's so well done. Aslo what is so great is the fact that it’s never black or white. In the Thronebreaker you try everything to defeat Nilfgard and here it almost seems like the only option if you don't want to sacrifice Thaler and Roche. You really feel like a pawn in the game of politics. Once again a great video;)

More amazing content...unbelievable the attention to detail in this masterpiece. I only joined the Witcher 3 club a few months ago, played through the entire game 5 times in a row - even grinded to level 100 on a New Game and loved it. Not sure if you have noted a detail in Skellige i found. After the late King Bran's wife was sentenced to death by being chained to a rock, I found her dead body right off the coast. (Forgot the note the exact location) She was wearing the same outfit in her last scene. Thanks for all your good work!
