My great grandfather which is my grandma's dad passed away January and he was born in 1925 his name was Woodrow Gabe Smith my grandma has a penny of the year he was born in. 1925

I currently have a 1925D wheat penny. Its mainly black in color, copper edge and used condition. My question is: it only weighs 2.1 grams and a drop test tells me it has a silver content. Any thoughts on value or useful information. Thank you

sure its been struc on a dime dimes are smaller even if a dime got in it would show misalignment most likely it was a penny in ww2 sense copper was useful for war stuff they disided to make pennies out of steel if you got a penny from 1943 to 1945 thats made out of copper yer rich also the date is realy close to it (im surprised its in good condition)

I don't put any faith into what ICG says at all......and a 1925 S MS-66 RD doesn't fall into my pocket change everyday either..... No mint sets were out at that time, so looking for them is out of anyone's league..... You did have a 25 in there that looked like a woody, (wood grained ) and another I think, I wish you would have mentioned those coins also for that .... You have great info Mon Ami don't get me wrong .... I'll stick to looking at local auctions for estate sales on my rare coins to find ....

Send them to Ngc or Pncg they will grade it for you and then to Heritage auction and sell them.
