Gremlins with the optional V8 were actually some of the quicker American cars of the mid-'70s. Only 150 hp, but decent torque and light curb weight.

And some many were destroyed or stunts or just wore down to nothing! Ones that didn't get ruined in stunts had a long grueling second life as taxis! Then we're pretty much toasted after that !

1:16 Looks like Long Beach - Ocean Blvd but the other locations are scattered around San Pedro it seems. -Man the smog back around SoCal in 1979 was sooooo awful the sky was always brown and 0 visibility. Thank emission laws that our air is a million times cleaner by now.

Yeah, that Gremlin took a direct hit to its front wheel and didn't even care that it was cambered in after. That kind of collision will immobilize any modern vehicle, though I'd rather the car shattered instead of my leg bones so not really a bad thing...

To be fair, on a crappy 1980's television they looked similar enough that you wouldn't have noticed. Nowadays we have the benefits of higher framerates and resolutions to spot these kind of things.

There was a package you could get for the Gremlin that had a V8. It was meant to be standard but AMC was struggling so they went with an inline 4 cylinder for standard options.
