He said he can cover eight Western States every 12 days??? That must be the slowest mustang ever. I drove across country from San Diego to Virginia Beach in 5 days and I did it in a 70 Dodge Challenger stopping at hotels every night. But then again I didn't have a 454 cobra. I just had a little old 383 big block with a four-speed manual transmission.

@@McBurnside6380 No such thing as a 454 COBRA. There is a 454 cubic inch Chevrolet. And a 428 c.i. cobra jet Ford. And 2 liters is 2000cc.
@PhaQ22 жыл бұрын
@@deutschlander2004 1986, I drove 600 miles in 5 hours. Average speed was 120mph. When the hood was shaking so hard I thought it was going to rip off, I estimate 155mph. This in a 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. Stock small block 350/350TH automatic and 2.73 gearing. BFGoodrich radial TAs 275/60R15 on rally rims. And the 383 was a small block bored and stroked to the max. Not a big block.

There weren't as many interstate highways in 70-73. It's easier now.
@PhaQ22 жыл бұрын
@Thor Odin son The Ford FE engine block is already nearly bored and stroked to the maximum @428 c.i. Even .060. over bored its only 440 c.i. and at that point the cylinder walls are dangerously thin and won't last for more than one pass at a track. Hollywood is rarely accurate. Much like our mainstream media news outlets.

Hm...the '70 Lincoln was retrofitted with a '72 hood ornament. Well, by '75 that could have been done with ease. After all, a lot of Lincoln owners were unamused with the deletion of the freestanding hood ornaments starting in '68; so some would compensate by buying hood ornaments from dealers and installing them on their cars. Then Lincoln reinstated hood ornaments in '72...but not as fancy and intimidating as the long-point throwing-stars of old. Here I am, talking Lincoln with Lynda Carter at her sexiest on my computer screen. See where my priorities lie...? I think the Lincolns of the early-'70s were good-looking cars...but they would have looked better had the engineers at least retained the clap-door configuration. They never should have ditched the clap-door configuration.
