One-hundred percent COOL!!! My dad took my mom to downtown Augusta, GA to get a new car in 1969, and we test drove two cars. The first one was a GS Buick 400 (gold and black). Loved the powerful sounding dual exhaust. The second was a more tame Daytona Blue Cutlass Oldsmobile with a 350 2-barrel carb engine. Mom wanted the latter. I was disappointed; however it was a very nice car. I remember as a kid sitting in the back seat, and because it was an A-body, it had a square chrome button in the back of the front seat that would unlatch it. LOL

Buick never made a "Grand" Sport. The moniker is Gran Sport, no "D" in the name. Often, those who are ignorant of this fact confuse the Gran Sport with the Buick Grand National series of fine automobiles.

I like the fact that there is a taillight out-nobody's perfect. The fact that the doors, trunk, and hood close like a bank vault, & she has a exhaust snarl that makes Minis cry out in fear is enough for me.

For a true restoration, especially the exhaust system, should have included the Gardner Exhaust system for a complete muscle car restoration instead of the trash can sounding flowmaster exhaust. The vast majority of true restorations include the Gardner Exhaust system which really do make the car sound very muscular & unique sound as well fitted for the GS. The saying "Go fast with Class" in a 1970 GS.

Old vid, but man...Grand Sport is a Corvette. And I made the mistake of putting the hood insulation in the underhood pockets around the scoops too. Water trap. Lose 'em, whoever the new owner is. Oddly optioned. A/C but it also has the Skylark steering wheel. Not an early production run car either; the overflow tank has a black top. Somebody chose that wheel. Odd.

Stage 1? What is the difference? Beautiful car.
@Nomah1979
@Nomah1979 4 жыл бұрын
While both 455s we're great the stage one had a nicer cam with a little bit of compression and head work. They say the stage one package only had 10 more horse but that was just being conservative. The base model GS 455 pushed out about 460hp and could come in a array of colors. The stage one pushed out about 495hp maybe a little less and only came in two colors, white and yellow the white being much more rare. While both were torque monsters at about 510 foot pounds the stage one package took it in over all horsepower. Hence the reason the stage 1 stickers and badges are in the car because that base model GS has been built to the spec of a stage 1 even though you won't see it on the build sheet. You could put the spoiler on and all the badges and stickers and call it a clone if you wanted to paint it. I hope this helps you out
@mr.e1220
@mr.e1220 4 жыл бұрын
@@Nomah1979 thank you for the information. I remember seeing stage 1 GS that were many different colors. Are you talking about the GSX? I only see the GSX in white and yellow with a black stripes and spoiler. That is correct. But I'm pretty sure I remember seeing GS models that had a stage 1 motor in them from the factory and we're not the GSX model. So the GS with the stage one could be any color Buick offered for them. I'm not an expert, I just remember seeing them on the road and I guess someone could have put a GSX stage 1 motor in a GS but I'm pretty sure from the factory GS also came with the stage one motor that was put in the GSX.

Compared to the 4-speed GS Stage 1 I used to own: 1) The interior door panels are supposed to have GS emblems. There's supposed to be a factory tachometer in the dash. That's not a GS steering wheel. It's still a nice restoration though...

I found me a very wealthy woman!! Thank you God. I told her I wanted a Stage 1. She says to me, "Oh, no problem, that is very cheap!!". I shit my pants Lol. Looking now. I am very picky. Got to be Stratomist blue, white vinyl top, white interior. Love the N25 bumper, so a 72 is my first choice. The rumble of a built 455 is better than a Ferrari. My first car was a 1970 LeSabre convertible. The back seat was a hotel room. The "Beermobile" If you weren't careful getting into the backseat, a sprained ankle was coming from stepping on the empty beer bottles. The girls would call me!! "Can I ride with you tonight?" "Yes, you can, my beautiful cheerleader". Buicks forever.

No they didn't. They had the 8.2 rear up to 70, then 8.5 , all had non c clip bolt in axles. Canadian Buick got 12 bolt. Of course might be exceptions . Seller is just that. Even the Stage 1 emblems bolt directly in place of the 455 emblem, no cutting or tape.
