There is a subtle aspect in this video that I would like to point out. Why is everyone laughing? This is unique to Aikido. Although it has been diminished when Tohei Sensei left, the Aiki and the Do, combine and create a unique experience that is "funny." Funny, because it is totally out of the norm. When your ki is redirected in Aikido it is a feeling of emancipation, a freedom from that hard part of the uke who is going from being the attacker to someone taking ukemi. This is a fun video. Through the wonders of technology we are able to learn much about many things. When I was growing up, the best we had were old 16mm films of O'Sensei, and then the Zatoichi films.

Das ist super , ich wollte immer sehr gerne lernen ❤❤❤❤❤❤
With Taka-san Sensei, he already admitted that Ukemi was not his thing, therefore Sirakawa Sensei had to be especially careful not get Taka-san in a situation where Taka-san could get hurt because of poor Ukemi. Very Aiki. Ma'ai is practiced very carefully. As always, keeping proper ma;ai is essential. Interesting that they show the age of everyone but not Sirakawa Sensei. Kimura (Koa) Sensei was some 65 years old when my father and sensei first practiced with him. For the next 30 years or so until he died he was still 65 years old. AIkido keeps you young.

Does the Karateka never spar or something? Like, aikidoka is just doing very basic things most people do. Eye gouges etc are all over the place in karate. Is he actually a karate black belt, or just a comedian?

trained people dont cause problem ONE untrained person is not much of a threat to a trained man. So the real issues are what to do vs multiple attackers or men with knives, short clubs, or items snatched up, like fist-sized rocks?

when you do stop kicks at the shin or knee, they are NOT easily dealt with. In fact, they are VERY difficult to deal with. If the kicker knows to use alternating legs for his kicks and especially if he knows the improved cat-stance, he's very, very hard to hurt. and he can tear you apart in mere seconds. Once he hurts your leg, he can easily break your other leg with a kick and then you're on the ground, with bot legs disabled. He can then kill in another 2 seconds or less.

You're delusional. "Improved cat stance"? Did you learn that at a Su3per S3cret SEm14r f0r Sp3c1al W4rr1ors or something?

yes, IF you have a lot of room in which too move, a nice floor surface, good shoes/clothing for this stuff, are all warmed up and stretched. Lets see you to all that if you're in between a bunch of people furniture or cars, on rough, oily concrete, broken glass, etc, (as is QUITE likely to be the case when it's for-real)?

techniques that only work for great masters are not what this stuff is about. Either this stuff is what kids, women, old people to use for practical self defense, or it might as well be nothing more than ballet dancing

@SonnyCrocket-p6h8 ай бұрын
why pull your kicks a foot short, ? the guy easily avoids you when you take the time to flop around on the ground. He's at least a step beyond your reach when you do that. It might surprise some completely untrained person, but it's very slow and very dependent upon having a nice floor surface. Untrained people can't kick, so you dont have to stay more than rear foot kicking distance from them (ie, side, bladed stance) in order to negate anything that they want to do with their hands.

It would be interesting to see all these techniques against Miyahira-sensei's bajiquan. I'm unable to practice any martial art due to my handicap but I kind of see some common ground between them.
