Ryuji Shirakawa invited me 2 months ago for 2 days to his personal Dojo in Sendai. I am an Aikido teacher with 40 years of practice. I practiced Viet Vo Dao. met many martial arts experts. Ryuji is undoubtedly a genius. He loves Aikido and trains every day. sharing and exchanging with other experts from different backgrounds. He is sincerely kind, very respectful, simple and human. his father is also kind and discreet. And his students are excellent and very kind. .My best experience.

I totally agree with you on opening Aikido on using kicks, grappling techniques in modern martial art life. Those techniques should keep the basic principles of Aikido so Aikidoka should be aware of the close combating situations that the Aikido techniques should initiate from irregular positions, not only on normal stands.
You put on such a magnificent demonstration. Bravo! The new techniques at the end were powerful and advanced. I love that you are inventing or adding new techniques to Aikido. It makes sense considering Aikido was born of other traditions like Judo. Mind you, I've never seen a move where the practitioner jumps up to wrap his legs around the other man's neck and take him to the ground. Awesum! I hope the glow of this success will linger with you for years: you deserve it.

Brilliant demo. Not just the traditional techniques, but also the ethos of Aikido, the grace and connection. And I loved watching the new techniques (not sure I could do those:). Thank you for sharing. You are a true ambassador for Aikido.

What a pleasure to watch such an innovative aikido demonstration. Aikido demos need to be modernized so our discipline can attract young people and Sensei you are doing it, tks for that
Very great demonstration Sensei, this way of mixing techniques is beautiful, sincerely. Congratulations from France.

AI Overview A major criticism of Aikido as a martial art is that its focus on throws and joint locks, often demonstrated in controlled environments, may not translate effectively to real-world self-defense situations, particularly against aggressive attackers who are punching and kicking, leading to concerns about its practicality in a street fight; many argue that it prioritizes aesthetics and fluidity over immediate defensive capabilities.

I studied both Japanese jujitsu and judo dabbled in Aikido looks very good I call it exhibition martial art. Doesn’t work well in actual street fights.
I understand the spirit of proliferation. Times are changing. How to innovate for new security and economic environments and grow in personal defense is an answer that is demanded.
