Alex Youtaite I really wonder why we Japanese don't have Japanese lyrics for the song while many other nations have ones in their own languages. English lyrics has six syllables: hap-py-birth-day-to-you, and as you say it can be translated to o-tan-jo-bi-o-me-de-to, eight syllables in Japanese. If I sing it in that rhythm, I will contract the "o-me-de" part to one syllable, which corresponds to the "to" part in English lyrics.
