I had 5 Plymouth Road Runners. My first was a 71, then Two 73s. I had a 77 that didn't impress me at all. Next I had a 74. Mixed in between was a 70 Challenger a 70 Super Bee and a few other interesting cars. By 1985 I switched to building Street Rods. I picked up a 1945 Dodge 1/2 ton. I currently have Two 1940s Chevy pickups one is a 46 and one is a 44 Blackout. The 46 is a Flat Bed that is setting on a Highly Modified 95 Caprice Classic Cop car that belonged to the Madison county Sheriff here in Idaho. Though I no longer have any muscle Cars I did stock up on a few old Mopar V8s and transmissions. I get quite a Kick out of the Chevy people when they say they never heard such a good sounding Chevy, then when I open the Hood they see a Mopar under it. I personally look back with some regrets however. One is the because of my Addiction to going Fast I spent most of my money and nearly all my time with my Machines. My second regret is that though I had several Women who came into my life they didn't stay with me very long. They were looking for a Man who would settle down Marry, and have a Family. My Third regret is that my lust for Speed cost me physically. I was pulled out of my Challenger, and one of my Road Runners by Paramedics. I had a Blast when I was Young, but If I could go back I would have done things differently. If you look around you can still find some of these old Mopar Muscle Cars. One of my current Girlfriends Boys just sold His 68 Dodge Dart GT that was 90% restored. I'm relatively sure that He didn't get much more than $4000 out of it. He got married and had to sell it. The way I see it is that there is still time for you to get yourself a dream car. 😎✌

I agree with you on prices and style, but I sure wouldn't call today's cars underpowered. Not in these days of 5-6-7-800 hp motors. Not when 400 hp won't even get you mid-pack performance nowadays. Not when a Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima with their optional motors will outrun a stock 383 Road Runner. Shoot, my wife's standard issue 2012 E350 Mercedes is as fast as my old Duster 340 was, with only 210 naturally aspirated cubic inches (and 4 valves per cylinder, direct injection and 12:1 compression ratio). 70' Road Runner the epitome of a muscle car....440+6 and pistol grip 4 speed..Chrysler sure did it right back then.

The pistol grip shifter is legendary. My brother just got his Challenger Hellcat built for drag racing at a high performance shop in Delaware and he had them put the pistol grip shifter in. It's not as tall as the original and has a much shorter throw.

@@johnnyduplantis Right. Those tall boys had a lot of seat height to clear. They sure looked great!

Where’s the audio? I would have loved to hear the original commentary.

That was the original audio. It’s a promotional piece, not a commercial.

When I was a teenager, I worked at a gas station and the manager had THAT CAR, same color and with a 440. He had it for sale ( gas prices were going up) but my parents were not interested in buying it. Gee. I wonder why. What’s wrong with a 16 year old country boy driving a car like that? 🤣🤣
