My dad was 18 when this commercial was aired. What a time to be alive!! He had tons of muscle cars, there were muscle cars everywhere you looked and went. He would just see another car on a lot he liked and trade it. No sales tax!!! Every weekend everyone was out cruising and racing. Gas and beer were cheap. What a time to be young. Rip dad. I’ll Always cherish the stories.

I still have my 1970 Nova. My first car that I got in 1976. Originally straight 6 with 3 speed but my Dad and I did a 327/4 speed swap.was real easy to do since they also came with V8s and 4 speed. I added SS trim back in 80s. Has 383 stroker now. I baby now.

I still think about my father turning down an opportunity to buy a one owner 1969 Shelby GT350 4-speed Convertible, loaded and factory AC. The car was a stunning Acapulco Blue with white top & interior; good strobe body stripes & had 22,000 miles. She was asking $2,800 Firm back in 1974

The driver in of the Chevelle is a character actor for several movies. His biggest role was Lonigan in the 1978 movie, Stingray. It was about a couple of guys who just bought a used 1964 Stingray being chased by drug dealers driving in a Chevelle. William Watson, the guy in this commercial was the main star of that movie. You want some Chevelle action, you got it. Check Stingray out.

I remember my old man getting his 396 engine warranty replaced 2x’s. How easily we forget how cars from that era required a lot more maintenance. I loved everything about that car btw. He switched to Mopar after that (Challenger)

I remember a "classmate" had one in 1983-4 for $4,000 (which was considerable big bucks, LOL). It was mint - red, black stripes, S/S Cragers (so that was about the whole bowl of wax). I was behind him in my parent's Caprice Classic station wagon as we were leaving school. As he went into 2nd gear, two black strips appeared on the pavement like they were being painted - it was like a dagger of jealousy. (He didn't have respect from many since his parents bought it for him, that rotten SOB, LOL).

There's a reason why it'll get so much attention because the reality is that it's such a good looking muscle car I mean the body lines and the style is just breath taking and not to mention the 396 Big Block as well as the 454 Big Block unlike the overpriced plastic modern eggshell on wheels you see on the road today.

At age 17 back then I was working on weekends as a service station attendant. Looking back , it is fun to remember putting gasoline in the tank on these cars back then. The one I remember best is a customers new 1970 Dodge Challenger and you know the engine it had, so no need to say it.
