My dad was 18 when this commercial was aired. What a time to be alive!! He had tons of muscle cars, there were muscle cars everywhere you looked and went. He would just see another car on a lot he liked and trade it. No sales tax!!! Every weekend everyone was out cruising and racing. Gas and beer were cheap. What a time to be young. Rip dad. I’ll Always cherish the stories.

The driver in of the Chevelle is a character actor for several movies. His biggest role was Lonigan in the 1978 movie, Stingray. It was about a couple of guys who just bought a used 1964 Stingray being chased by drug dealers driving in a Chevelle. William Watson, the guy in this commercial was the main star of that movie. You want some Chevelle action, you got it. Check Stingray out.

I remember a "classmate" had one in 1983-4 for $4,000 (which was considerable big bucks, LOL). It was mint - red, black stripes, S/S Cragers (so that was about the whole bowl of wax). I was behind him in my parent's Caprice Classic station wagon as we were leaving school. As he went into 2nd gear, two black strips appeared on the pavement like they were being painted - it was like a dagger of jealousy. (He didn't have respect from many since his parents bought it for him, that rotten SOB, LOL).

It's funny, the 454 was never mentioned. You had to be in the know, that it was even an option that you could buy. At least I never remembered them being advertised.
