Was at Lower Merion High School this morning, they have a memorial set up outside your gym. You would've been proud. The outpouring of love, not just from Kobe or Lakers fans, but people from all walks of life, from all over the world, so many are just completely devastated. It's an empty feeling, like part of me is gone. Nothing anyone can say or do that's gonna make the pain go away. It's not fair, that in the blink of an eye you and you precious little girl Gigi are gone. In 2001 I remember you said to the city of Philadelphia that you're gonna "rip our hearts out." It took 19 years, but it happened. *RIP Legend!*

Kobe grew up on the Main Line and I bet he had a pretty good experience on his high school team. As a black kid with an ex-NBA dad going to a predominately white, upper middle class school public school in the rich Philly suburbs having a nice, friendly Jewish (assuming) teammate who had his back and wanted nothing from him probably made him feel like a regular kid at that time in his life. His teammates probably all knew he was going places with the game and yet weren't threatened by it but supported him every step of the way despite knowing their lives would diverge and their friendship would likely not really last after high school. Still, there's warmth and respect and shared memories. Glad they all had that while it lasted.

Nice summary. Kobe didn't have the typical NBA player's upbringing, and also coming into the league at 17 years old, it must've been hard for him to relate to his teammates. Kobe was a unique individual.

Simon Huh?? where tf did that come from😅. I guess you are accusing me of unconscious prejudice. I'm not from the US and although we have race relation problems in the UK it's not as deep as what you have got going on in the US (I'm assuming you are from somewhere in America). The ethnicity of the guy wasn't a consideration I took into account. I believed him to be a comedian due to his jovial demeanour at the beginning of the video. One of my favourite PGs of all time is Steve Nash (a white guy) so Kobe having a white PG in High School was never out of the realm of possibilities in my mind (even though this thought did not organically cross my mind). Your comment says more about your frame of mind and the sociological issues that are perhaps prevalent in your environment. My advice to you would be to take some time to work your way out of the racial angst that the media perpetuates and become a free thinker. It's peaceful on this side✌🏾
