A pretty fun fact about the palace's kitchen (Jabba's favorite place for sure) was the irony developed between the Hutt and the slaved chef Porcellus, who was forced to prepare delicious food for Jabba. The only reason Porcellus gave all his efforts to outdo himself in his culinary skills was due to the hope of creating a plate of food so delicious that Jabba would release him in gratitude, when those actions only made the Hutt more interested in preserving the chef

It just blows my mind how expansive and intricate all these details are. Normally in any fiction, only what is required is conjured up and implemented, but this shows that what we actually ever see in films or the like is probably 5-10% of the total that is (eventually) conceptualized. It makes you wish they had included this or that in the films, cos there's so much cool stuff. Back stories, histories, countless rooms and chambers for endless uses and purposes... I don't think real life is as abundant with this much. But that's why I love the SWU. When you want an escape, there's more than enough to escape into.

I remember the origins of the Bomarr Order in Tales from Jabba's Palace, and thought that despite all contenders they were the scariest mofos in the galaxy. That his eventual fate at their hands made me sympathetic to Bib Fortuna, suggests just how creepy I found the monks. Also, from that book to now the evolution of the Bomarr is one of the most dramatic examples of how vast creative backstories have emerged from the countless throwaway aliens in the OT.

When I read "Tales from Jabba's Palace" eons ago there was a story about how the B'omarr Monks were fond of "allowing" unfortunate victims of the Hutt's rage or unlucky wanderers of the tunnels the reward of having their brains removed and placed into a spider-like droids. My take on the monk's brains absorbing thought, is, during SW-V, when C-3P0 & R2D2 arrive at Jabba's, the spider droid is seen in the background. IMO, it is heading outside. In subsequent SW films, it's always shown outside, meandering around the palace. I like to think that the monk doesn't know how to communicate to the droid to go back in as it is just in deep thought plus, it can't "see".

2:18 this part of the vid, the timeline of them first settling and starting to dig out what would become the temple/palace, seriously reminds me of the start of a colony in the game "Rimworld" (which I *highly* recommended, btw). This might inspire me to do another desert playthrough, maybe a small mid or high tech group landing on a tattooiene-like world with a few primitives, but with some catch to make it more fun, like keeping my colony's population very small or limiting myself to certain types of personality since they'd be monk-like in my headcanon. Or extra hostile outside conditions, just something to make it challenging and fun instead of just boring monks building and never even starving to death.

@MetaNerdz Lore 7:52 Regeneration gems? Oh NOW I get it. The game Dark Forces 1 in 94 had a weird item called "Revive" (which showed up in other games of the series but was an oversized medi-pack.)The DF1 Revive item was a glowing fiery jewel set in a dark, metal holder and this must be something from the very first days that Lucas was writing Star Wars. DK Multimedia might have made reference to this as an Easter egg from some forgotten and obscure lore bit of the early days of Star Wars. Maybe the Revive item in Dark Forces looks like a gem because it's a reference to a B'omarr Monk Regeneration gem. I wondered for many, many, many years why someone would choose a jewel to represent full-health. Maybe this is why. There are healing gems the B'omarr Monks used. Except this is the only mention probably made of them. Healing crystals. Go figure.

And when the Tuskens of the Planet hear the story Boba Tells of what the Pikes did, the Pikes get caught in a preset, Planet-Wide anti-invasion ambush, so the Pikes can suffer the redemption necessary to undo what they did to Boba's Tribe. It's fiction of course. The ambitious plot is for the drama. Cause a planet wide uprising is much more interesting than a local crime lord.
