Today's video is just a short out and back to Goring and Streatley station on the Great Western Mainline (GWML) near Reading. BR Standard 7 Pacific 4-6-2 No. 70000 Britannia was hauling Steam Dreams' London & Chilterns to Bath tour in place of LMS Royal Scot Class 4-6-0 46100 Royal Scot which was originally rostered but stayed in Crewe instead. The tour originated from London Paddington and headed northwards through the Chilterns along the Chiltern Mainline via High Wycombe to Princes Risborough, where it turned off through Bicester Village to access Oxford. From there it travelled to Bath via Swindon. After that the tour left Bath in the evening, travelling an unusual route via the Berks & Hants line through Westbury and Newbury, turning onto the GWML at Reading and rejoining the original route at Didcot.
I was at work this morning but having asked my colleague to relieve me of my duties a tad earlier than usual, I managed to catch the 16:28 from my local to Banbury, then the 17:33 GWR service to Didcot. Once at Goring I met @adtrainvids9569 and @harrymorris5748 and witnessed 70000 come hammering through at full speed with a blast on the whistle. After that I headed back home.
As always thank you to all who made this possible and for my company at Goring as well as LSL, Steam Dreams, 70000 and her crew. I hope you enjoy as I did!
