We use ladders in datacenters for cable routing, etc, as well. The difference there, is the equipment is spec'd for cat-5 ethernet cables ... and for the most part these days, it's all coming out and getting replaced with fiber-optic (mostly OM3/OM4). The weight difference is significant, so you end up with a ladder infrastructure that's overengineered by many orders of magnitude for what it's actually being employed to do.

That’s crazy!

@@residualelectrical Yep! For the most part, our electrical (as in rack power) comes from dedicated PDUs that all have their own conduit and receptables in the ceiling, so we have 30/50a drops down to each rack. Each one is 207v, and individually breakered. It'd pretty insane the amount of power some of this equipment consumes.

Looks spot on, But why have you used un-slotted uni-strut? Did you have to drill every M10 stud drop hole? Also, on these types of roofs with the different angle purlins I often opt for a M10 swivel bracket under the beam clamp, means all the stud drops hang level without bending them.

Really good editing work on these. Good choice of tunes too!

Clean install. We would always use earth braids at our joints. Thats only because we follow Wimes standards.

Ladder rack is me all day long. One of the easiest of containment types to use, but there are different makes with different kinds of joiners and swivels some better than others. Pretty easy to manufacture anything off-piste you need to make as well.

Going back to 2007/8, I actually used to weld them ladders up in Legrand's Scarborough factory. Don't know if it's the same now but they did have their own toolroom / workshop for building and maintaining punch and press tools.

This is fun to watch as a domestic spark. Very satisfying. On the other hand, I don't miss the days of pulling 35mm split concentric through this kind of containment.

After so many problems with unilite, like magnets falling off etc I either buy lights that work with my tool batteries, cheap Chinese work lights from Amazon that look identical to unilite or fenix flashlights. I bought three unilite products and that's a big no.

Swift stuff is awesome. Really great seeing some commercial stuff of the Tube. Great video mate 👏 Would be great for a "Earth or don't earth" regarding your containment. There's so much "belt and braces" stuff in our trade. But it would be interesting design wise if that something you considered. Keep it up mate 👊

Nice one mate, yeah that’s a good idea, if I got time then I’ll do it 🤝🏼

Enjoyed watching these 2x videos Mike! I’ve never done much containment so thanks for sharing👍🏻 Useful overview as a Trainee.

You need a through socket set to wind nuts up screwed rod.

Would love one, if I’m doing a lot sometimes I make the nut spinners out of conduit 👌🏼

Do a day pulling 4c300mm’s along a ladder in a roof of a red hot factory and you’ll be glad to be back pulling your 2.5mm’s in

For the next man. Use some rod caps on all those ends
@swaterman08Ай бұрын
in the States they would tell you to go back and double up the nuts on the hangers
@persona250Ай бұрын
They would also spend weeks running each circuit in its own conduit.

Did you have to get an engineer's report for hanging it out of the roofing structure?

Yeah we was instructed to do it this way, only stipulation was to not drill the purlins

Love metal munching, this would be a dream job to be involved in. Let us know how you get on with the unilite level... i love my stabila pocket level, use it all the time when putting up containment. Not sure if id want one that needs recharging though. Would also love general updates on how your new business is going, looks like you're smashing it!

OMG some young lads working without gloves how have you survived the day 😂😂. Being an electrician is a strange business, putting up ladder and pulling cables isn’t really taxing the brain cells unfortunately 🤷♂️
