Enjoyed watching that so watched it twice. Many thanks for posting it up. Good to see those two freight trains passing through. Twenty five odd years ago or so the "Murco" Petrol Tanker Freight trains were Class 60 hauled and a magnificent sight as both Locomotive and Fuel Tanks bright in their still fresh and clean red white and blue "Murco" corporate colours. Move on to 2019 and most of the tanks are stained black and filthy. The length of the Class 66 freight train on the opposite way to South Wales looked like something you'd expect to see crossing the USA or Australia. Imagine what our roads would be like if all that stuff travelled by road making many of them a worse form of traffic density madness they already are. Thirty wagons on that Class 66 South Wales bound freight train. Last time I counted the Murco Wagons whilst waiting at the Horton Road Level Crossing gates, there were also thirty. I think each weighs 100 tons so the whole freight train loaded would be about 3,000 tons. On rails where most of the freight should be, not the roads.

Another iconic video Derek of a steam hauled train coming into Gloucester, one of your specialities. These views are amongst my favourite on the internet. I love the lingering shots of the steam locos moving in and around the station.

When Clun Castle was allocated to Gloucester Horton Road in the 1960's, I was a fireman on this loco.

Schoolboy me in the early 1950s used to "bunk" that Horton Road Locomotive Depot ( Shed Code 85B ) often chased off site by staff but, I could run faster than them. Wish I could afford a camera back then. Gloucester Western Depot had two Castle Class Locomotives allocated there for the runs up and down to Paddington.5017 St Donats Castle and 5018 St Mawes Castle. Soon after 5017 lost its Castle name plates which were replaced by the massive nameplates .... Gloucestershire Regiment. About that time I saw another Castle Class Locomotive on running in duties to-from Swindon and Gloucester. Looking as though it had just been built it was so resplendent and clean following refurbishment at Swindon Works.. Factory Works tour back then cost a whole six "old" pence. The Connecting rods so shiny yellow they looked like Gold. It had an unusual name on a large nameplate I had never heard of. ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL. Who the hell was that. I now know and that engineer became and still is my hero. A truly man of Heroic endeavour. One time schoolboy me standing on Swindon Station waiting for my train back to Gloucester a castle Class hauling "The Bristolian" flashed through the station its connecting rods a blur. Had no idea a steam train could travel that fast. Last time I trespassed on the old deserted depot was about twenty five years ago. The depot long since wound down and no longer in service. Plants overgrowing the site. However someone had parked a Class 60 there so I along with my two young sons decided to have a closer look. Parked the car in the empty car park and wandered over to get some images of the Class 60. 60033 named Anthony Ashley Cooper then. Got some nice images and about to leave when we heard the heavy footfall of authority approaching. OK fair cop I'm thinking. Not at all. The driver of the Class 60 invited the three of us on board after showing us the various checks needed before he could start the massive Diesel Freight Locomotive. Better still, the driver invited my son then aged eight to press a large button on the control panel and hold it down. Then we heard the various systems priming up and then after some seconds, the big Diesel Engine burst into life. The look on my sons face... a big smile...:D...Even better, he took us up and down the yard... All Great Days gone forever but never forgotten.

BR 7029 "Clun Castle" with the going retro tour train. Clun castle's stand out painted piston bars, nice high sided coal tender, like Ravaningham hall on the WSR
