70HP Mercedes 240D vs Huge Hill and High Altitude

Yes these are great roadtrip cars, but they often get defeated by big hills, but what about big hills and high altitude. Will the car surpass 25mph?

This car should do WAY better than that. Lots of things can reduce the power on these, like fuel filters, valve adjustment and so on.

My 1980 240d manual runs good. On the road. Will not start off on very steep driveways. Idk why!?? Is that normal?

Clutch slipping? My 1979 240D clutch starts to engage abut a third of the way from the floor. Overall, you should have no problem on hills. First gear Is a granny gear.

@@bobbbobb4663 strangely...it just has no ass in low gear taking off on a steel driveway. But can run 85 on highway easily.

@@technicalitems731 I wonder if the rear end gear was swapped out to a lower gear or maybe the 1980 model year had the lower gear. One clue is the dot marks on the speedometer..if you aren't hitting the redline slightly past the first dot mark in first gear, then you definitely have a lower gear (the dot marks are shift indicators so you will see one dot mark around 15 mph, two dot marks around 30 mph, three dot marks around 50 mph).

Bruh my 1994 honda civic makes more hp stock than that I can't imagine how slow that thing is.

You can't expect much from diesel cars from the 70s, they were all underpowered. Even the turbodiesels weren't that great. The main thing with them is they're virtually bulletproof.
