My Grandfather's Dad was a brakeman. I never got to meet him, but my Grandfather told me what he said about those enclosed auto cars. Automobiles were once shipped in open carriers, and kids would throw stones at passing trains, knocking out windows and damaging the cars before they got to market.

A bit too much "wind burn" on the mic, but you consistently captured that nice GE diesel growl, and your no-nonsense editing packs a lot of fun into a short video, so heck yes, I'm subscribing.

Appreciate your feedback. Anything suggestions I could do to get rid of the wind burn?
@binkohh16 Жыл бұрын
@@Colton_K probably a wind mic protector so winds don’t have to take over sound and u can have more clear sound of the incoming trains, (note) it might be like an earrape (meaning when the horn blows it’ll get too loud when too close, suggesting u should probably stay where grass is in this video) if you do get those types of ones but either way you’ll be fine, btw I liked one of ur vids ❤️❤️

I am awed by the multitude locos in these trains. Does each one have an engineer, or can they be linked to be run by the lead unit alone?

They are all connected together, one engineer can run it. They have tech for the engines to work that way

My daughter lives out there, near omaha, beautiful rails, flat, no hills, no grades. Those trains are light weight. Tankers are the heavies . I was a conductor. That train was about a 12,000 footer, and prob about same in weight maybe 11, 12,000 tons,. UP runs a nice RR. I'm retired now and live near a NS main in Tennessee. Wat a shit RR they are. Every engine is filthy and horrible. All they need to help their image is to wash some locos
@thejackbox11 ай бұрын
They paint their power black so they can be lazy about washing but it don’t help when you can see how nasty the white lettering is

How do you get 70 mph when the locomotive is geared for 65 mph
@Colton_K Жыл бұрын
They’re geared to 75mph but FRA only limits 70mph

@@Colton_K locomotives of the up rr have been posted on you tube. Don't have videos of all locomotive s from the inside but every one I seen is 65 mph
@FFred-us9tw Жыл бұрын
@@Colton_K the FRA does not have any limits on how fast freight locomotives can go outside of the manufacturer’s specifications. The vast majority of modern GE freight locomotives are geared for 75 and most EMD’s are geared for 70. The railroad that owns them will then choose how to fast to allow them to operate at. Not the FRA.
