Not a fan of the handlebars, but the front-end is nice. I got a 550 myself and plan on swapping a 600rr front. I also like the original seat. Nice!

I’m going to do a similar build with the front forks

Very nice setup, does the ABS on the GSXR750 still works? Can you make a tutorial on how to swap the front end? thanks!
@NicholasSerra8 жыл бұрын
No ABS on this setup. Assuming that came on newer models. If you're looking for a guide, search around the sohc4.net forums.

Hey. Love the bike. Any update on the rear disk swap? I have to completely re do my rear end and brakes so I’d like to do that if possible. Don’t see much info on it
@NicholasSerra3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I got pretty far on the swap and ended up bailing on it. It ended up needing too much custom work and I didn't want to go the custom fab direction on this. The goal was bolt on 750 parts and make it work. But the main issue was the 750 swingarm with the mount for the brake caliper stay arm just didnt have enough clearance within the frame to allow for the brake swivel to travel and engage an aftermarket master cylinder. At that point the only real option was to weld the mount to a 550 swingarm, and that felt too dirty to me.

Hi, very nice modern classic. Didn't get if the cognito hub helped you just for the dual disc brake or is it the only way to go to keep the stock wheel on a USD forks. In either case could you give me some info with the latter? Thanks
@NicholasSerra5 жыл бұрын
Cognito hub is the easiest way to lace wire wheels to GSXR forks. Otherwise you'd need to drill out or modify the stock honda hub to accept the larger gsxr front axle.

@@NicholasSerra thank you very much, crystal clear.

you should put a gsxr rear end on it make it a mono shock that would be cool
@NicholasSerra8 жыл бұрын
I do like those, but I hate it when people hack up these old frames. Right now i'm in the process of putting a late cb750f rear disc setup on it. Then it's all done ha.

NicholasSerra cool man i just cut my 81 cb750 frame up and i and putting on a 06 gsxr rear end on it ill have a video up this weekend and ill be doing weekly build vids

NicholasSerra I absolutely love that look of that bike! so clean. what headlight is that? I'm getting ready to build a nighthawk 750 and I would love that headlight on it.

Thanks! It's the stock headlight bucket with a truck-lite LED housing in it.

What front where are you running. I have a similar setup on a cb750 Harley dyna front wheel but having issues getting rotors to line up
does your bike feel significantly lighter after doing just the front? thanks
@NicholasSerra6 жыл бұрын
No. It's probably heavier. All the gsxr stuff is beefier, and the calipers are larger. I haven't weighed it though.

Half way cafe?, steering damper?, really?

?
@carlosgooglemaps946 жыл бұрын
NicholasSerra , don't you know what steering damper is?, well it make sense for a bike with 150+ hp, how many your bike get?, 45-49?, totally useless on your bike, do you understand my question now? "steering damper really?"
@Blkeftch7 жыл бұрын
I have a 77 cb750k & was wanting to do the same swap, What all would I need besides the actual front end itself? Do I just need the frame conversion stem from Cognito?
@NicholasSerra7 жыл бұрын
I'd go over to the sohc4.net forums and do some searching. But basically: cognito hub + spacers, seals, etc, original rim, custom spokes (from cognito), gsxr forks, upper and lower triples, brakes, brake discs, all balls bearings.
@Blkeftch7 жыл бұрын
Alright thanks!

So, no new stem needed for a 500/550?
@NicholasSerra8 жыл бұрын
It's a gsxr stem. Basically whole front is gsxr. All balls bearings has conversion bearings.
@sigmundsound8 жыл бұрын
I'm doing it on a CB750 and will need a longer stem. I was just confirming that you just change the bearings for anyone looking here. I also have a CB400t I might swap over to a gsxr.

Get rid of that ugly handlebar, install nice clip ons, get rid of the ugly seat and pillion pegs, install solo cafe seat, re do break light and signals, etc. Most important; tell your girl or boyfriend to get its own bike though!!
@NicholasSerra6 жыл бұрын
I don't like the style you're describing. I wanted to keep stock seat and stock lights, that's on purpose. To each his own.
@carlosgooglemaps946 жыл бұрын
NicholasSerra , not offense mate, it's your bike, but if you only want "likes" then don't post it, why the steering damper for??, does the front end of this bike shake under "hard acceleration"??🤣
@NicholasSerra6 жыл бұрын
The gsxr750 front comes stock with a damper lol, I can't tell if you're being serious or not. Oh well. Pretty common addition either way.

I am curious. Does the front end swap make it feel better to ride ?
@NicholasSerra Жыл бұрын
Shocks feel better, brakes are an insane difference. Otherwise I never really ride the 500 in a way that would push any of the suspension to notice a difference.

@@NicholasSerra damn I wasnt expecting a reply in the least lol. I have been contemplating picking up a recently part restored cb750k and have been researching on their known issues. Thanks for the input bro
