very informative, so you put gsxr 750 forks with Hayabusa wheel and rotors.

Thanks, and yeah. but if you just plan on running factory GSXR wheels instead of aftermarket spoked wheels (like I plan on) then all you need is the wheel and rotors that fit your make and model of GSXR fork. I only ran the busa wheel and rotors because I plan on swapping it out for a custom spoke wheel that uses the busa parts.

@@michaels.333 what about your rear wheel, you have stock cb550 brake and wheel?
@michaels.3336 жыл бұрын
The rear hub is stock, I just rebuilt the drum brakes in it and installed new bearings. I have an excel wheel that is 4.25" wide with custom spokes from cognito moto, which allows me to run a 150mm wide rear tire. All you need to run the wider rear wheel is the wider rim, custom spokes, an offset front sprocket, a sprocket spacer for the rear; and the hub locating bracket and brake rod needs modified to fit around the wider wheel. I have a picture of the modified bracket in my build video, around the 7 min mark; but it wouldn't be very hard to make the bracket out of a piece of flat bar.

Did you have to swap the steering stems? Or was the gsxr stem the correct length? Awesome looking bike.
@michaels.3335 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and on a cb550 you don't have to, but on the 750's you will.
@garywasthere5 жыл бұрын
For the front end swap, after you swap the bearings the gsxr front end just mates right up, correct?
@michaels.3335 жыл бұрын
for a cb550, yes

VERY informative video dude! So, you don't NEED to run Hayabusa brakes/wheels on it if you stick with the GSXR wheel, right? I could potentially just swap out the forks with wheels/brakes attached and be good?
@michaels.3336 жыл бұрын
Correct. The only reason I ran Hayabusa rotors is because you need bigger rotors to run an aftermarket spoked wheel.

Awesome. Thanks!

@@michaels.333 Not true. Cognito Moto hubs are made to use stock GSXR rotors.
@michaels.3335 жыл бұрын
@@supersportimpalass Yes, I know. However, I plan on running 18" wheels up front so I need hayabusa rotors. If I was running 17" wheels then I could just stick with the stock gsxr 750 rotors.
@supersportimpalass5 жыл бұрын
@@michaels.333 an 18" wheel isn't going to make any difference from a 17". In fact I'm currently running a 19" on my 550 and there is plenty of clearance. Maybe if you were using a super wide wheel but stock width or diameters won't matter. The only reason for using the spacers under the calipers is for the difference in diameter in rotors.

Hey, I was wondering if I can have your email to ask you some questions? This is what I want to do to my bike. Thanks.

Expensive upgrade. I only paid $700 for the bike

yeah, I only paid $250 for mine, but building bikes is expensive.
