Japan - Winning the Pacific War and Capitulating the USA

Using the save from the end of my first Japan Guide ( • Invasion of China Guid... ) and the naval meta guide I did ( • The Naval Meta and How... ) to easily win the naval war and take all of South East Asia. From there taking out Australia and New Zealand before moving on to capitulate India.
After India, staging a naval invasion of the West Coast of the USA and capitulating USA, Canada and Mexico.

That was really easy supremacy you got with the cruiser subs. I did once use them like that too but I just did it right when I suddenly declared war on them. After war it becomes a bit more difficult but I recently learned that changing the mission of the fleet gives variying levels of suprmacy, convoy escort and naval invasion support is good on that I think.

I just noticed that your way of planning naval invasions is way different to mine. I select the divisions in the army rather than selecting the army and letting them spread out to orders automatically (I guess). Executing only some orders is also useful. Would you please do a naval invasion guide for the tips and tricks? Btw, this is the 3rd time I watched entirety of this video.

I like your method of going after ports and victory points. I usually just land on a port, bring in more divisions and push, but your way is better. For me, the most painful part about winning as Japan wasn't the island hopping, it was pushing through the mountains and deserts in the west of the USA. It would be easier to just assign airplanes to armies over handling them manually, but they often switch off their mission or deploy in the wrong arizones.

What i don't like about assigning air to armies is that before you invade, the air wings are set to the area your army is currently in, and not where they're going to attack. Also because I use field Marshal frontlines and that can mess up the air zones

You can preplan naval invasions all the naval invasions you did, before the war. No sense waiting for preparation time to tick. Hope that helps you out :)

Interesting stuff ! I'd be curious to know how you'd go about playing as Italy. When I first got the game I played as Italy (tutorial onward) and I enjoyed it a lot. The game has come some way since then so I'd be interested to know how others go about playing as Il Duce. ;-)

Italy has always been one of my favorite countries to play, but they really suffer in the current patch since they haven't benefitted from any dlc since the game first came out, and now they really lag behind.

Hello! Very nice video. I played a lot historical France and UK but only played Japan for WC so it's a bit boring. I tried recently to play them historical, I capitulated China in less than one year. But when I attacked the Allies I got some trouble like I was running out quickly of oil... Seems I didn't import or produce a lot of that. I have some questions question, you're only doing carriers planes because you can use them also as normal planes? And for the navy, as France and UK I use to have a fleet of subs on raid convoys and my main fleet as strikeforce (by raiding convoys, the subs are also doing a "role" of patrolling) and it works fine. Is it a good way to use the main fleet as convoys raiding? Because it consumes a lot of fuel.

Import fuel from the soviets. Also once you win that first battle against the US fleet you can also import from Venezuela. You might want to build a few fuel silos in china before the war. I was using the zero because you get it for free from your focus tree and you don't really need anything more than fighter 2s in single-player.

Your vids are very good , excellent , but the only tip I would give give to make a huge improvement , when you are going through the vid explaining and pointing at things , please do no spin your mouse cursor around in circles at what you are pointing at , for several reasons , it is irritating , but more importantly you can not read any tools tips you are pointing at and this would be extremely useful for those learning to play and wanting to familiarize themselves with a focus or any tool tip , and there are many you mouse over but do not keep mouse still and pause so the viewer can pause the vid to read it and take in what you are explaining. I am an advanced player but look in at others ideas , you can learn something regularly I find even if you have played 4000 hours lol , thats hoi4 complex ever evolving , and you have some great little tips and tricks. Watch this vid of yours and you will see what I mean it is glaringly obvious once you see what I mean.

If you have multiple naval battles in one location, wait for the day to roll over. If you viewed the top one, that will now disappear and you can see the next one

So basically from what I've understood. If I want to kill the Enemy's Navy, I just put my Main Fleet onto Convoy Raiding on Always Engage in the hot areas, right? Spotting Cruiser and Patrol Order then basically becomes useless, doesn't it?

Patrol orders can't find the enemy fleet if the enemy fleet is on strike force. They will just sail around doing nothing. Using convoy raid draws them out inti an open battle where their screening efficiency is reduced by their own convoys.

@@Luca-ys5dvFor me, i use patrolling fleet to destroy the convoy escorter. Try raiding using surface fleet and watch your screen gets destroyed by nav bombers, then when the actual battle starts you get no screening. Order of baiting: Subs -> convoy escort -> patrol -> Strike force.

hello I have a question often when I play as germany I always go into a stalemate in belgium or northern france I have 40 widh tanks and 21 widh infantry but I still always end up in a stalemate because they have like 200 troops on the borders and my tanks cant breakthrough

The issue you're having is high defence due to entrenchment. Try using 42 width 12/8/2 Medium/Mot/Mot. AA , using the close support gun with additional machineguns to maximise soft attack. Tbh you could swap out the mediums for lights (make sure the division template has more than 12 armour) so you have more divisions out by 1939

Most important: if you don't have air superiority, you're going to have a bad time. CAS + entrenchment + doomstacks to cycle reinforce is ruin for any attacking divisions. when I reach a position I cannot break I will typically fall back to better terrain; Belgium is rubbish for fighting in, so I recommend you don't. The Allies will have about 30-60 divisions to specifically throw at you in 1940, but they're pretty trash; it's the Allied airpower that makes them so dangerous, especially if they're allowed to stack on just a few tiles. If you have a full 5 army groups, you are sitting very comfortably. without knowing more, my recommendation is to extend the Allied lines by withdrawing deeper into Germany. It's easier to fight 10 divisions split among 5 tiles, than 5 divisions sitting on 1 tile. Falling back to the German plains will grant you opportunities to break through with your tank divisions and encirlcle the Allied divisions; a healthy cycle of fallback-and-encircle lets you beat any super power eventually, and soon the Allies won't have enough divisions to stop you in Belgium. Just remember to attach AA to your divisions if you cannot get/maintain air superiority. Allied bombers are no joke.

They're as good as 1940 subs in terms of number of slots and pacific designer allows 7500km range with a single fuel tank and 2 torpedoes.

Its extra soft attack. Never a bad thing. By 1943 tech they actually have slightly more soft attack and breakthrough than regular artillery.

IMO it's worth it *if* you have the research time, industry and stockpiled regular arty to spare. It's more of a nice to have thing, not something really important.

For some reason i only get 49% of their factories with 75% compliance and civilian oversight. But in another save i got 80% from the us with roughly the same compliance. And in that save i Also got significantly less factories from china with similar compliance percentage. Does anyone know why this is happening?

If you're talking about China here, the reason for only 49% factories is that Communist China has cores in all the same states as China, and because you have 0 collaboration and compliance for Communist China (I assume), you only get as many factories as you would get with (75%+0%)/2=37.5% compliance, which results in 25%(base) + 65%*37.5%(compliance)=~49% of factories

What infantry width are you using for pushing?

I had 3 divisions. The small one was 12 width, full support companies. The big one was 11/2, full support companies. The marines were also 11/2.

Just group them up together in one deathstack. Ai always splits up its fleet so grouping your will let you pick off their fleet really easy.

Japan gets the carrier fighter 2 for free so it saves research. They also get a 20% cost reduction to them which makes them a little cheaper than fighter 2s. They do have less range though.

How come US doesn't defend the main land well? I had two campaigns and they did defend well, one of them was a late war which resulted in 9 million US casualties and an early one around 3 million. I didn't apologize for Panay in one of them.

I guess that depends on how involved are they in other conflicts throughout the world. They will defend any country on the same side in a war. But if they are not at war, all their units will concentrate on home defense.

@@savobursac1148 Yeah, I think that's what happened. I always had one on one go with the US, not wanting to be also busy with the Allies. My basic strategy was mass invading the US island at once and landing on continental ports. Setting the war the go and letting some time past makes their army unoccupied and go somewhere else and not to forget USA had "Germany first" policy.
