Listening to Andras play these works is like writing the word "perfect" with golden ink.

Did you notice the info posted in small letters (only if you look at the video on a desKtop; it does not show on phone)? The pianist is not Andras Schiff, but Paul Badura-Skoda.

What a thought-out flowing interpretation. I never found this piece interesting or beautiful, but hearing him play, I am inspired to practice to make it to a different level.

Such a different interpretation of number 3 than Horowitz but both masterpieces and by incredible artists.

I´d be prepared to give one year for work on no. 3 of these - and only that! My mother (may she rest in peace🥰) did it very well.

As Arial Herzog comments, No 3 performed convincingly , but differently, by Vladimir Horowitz. Nos 2, 3, & 4 are my top Schubert piano favourites, am currently struggling to perform # 4. Really brings home just how incredibly good these performances are by Maestro Andras, interpreted, I'm sure, precisely, no more, no less, as Schubert intended.

No. At the top, in the info, it says András Schiff very clearly. Further down it tells us what we can get on KZbin Premium, and those recordings include Paul Badura-Skoda.

Ki lehet az a 14 személy, akinek ez a muzsika nem tetszik. Mert arra még gondolni sem akarok, hogy az előadásmóddal van bajuk! Az lehetetlen, mert az úgy tökéletes, ahogy van.

Although this is a perfect interpretation, I enjoy Grigory Sokolov’s interpretation better. It has more colours and nuances, for him every note is important, with Andras Schiff I do not get the same experience.
@ludwigvontutti37994 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly why I much prefer Schiff’s performance - I listen to Sokolov and I feel suffocated, he tries so hard to wring the profundity out of every note, and in the end I cannot understand the big picture of what the music is about. All I hear is Sokolov’s ideas, which may be interesting in isolation but what does it matter if the narrative of Schubert’s music is not brought out clearly? His pianism and musicianship are unquestionable and sometimes awe-inspiring but more often than not the heavy-handedness of his interpretations leaves me turning elsewhere.
@ganjamozart14354 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I find Sokolov overly fussy at times. Relax 😂.

ludwigvontutti : I agree with you. Thank you for putting it so well.
@Ernesto7608 Жыл бұрын
Comparison between this interpretation and Sokolov's is not easy. Here we have only music, in Sokolov's videos we see him playing, his articulation, his facial expressions. I put some value in the latter, favoring Sokolov. But he also makes some unnecessary rubatos, and this version is cleaner, thus superior.
