Sending a cheerful hello from Yorkshire Tea Land! Fab episode, loving all the yarny chat and crafting candy as always. As for the sock saga, just divide your excess stitches that don’t fit in your pattern repeat by two, and knit them as normal stitches at the beginning and end of the row, but put stitch markers after the first extra stitches and before the last extra stitches so you know when to start and end your pattern repeat section. Those socks do look rather lush by the way! Stay safe and keep sharing your joy 🧶🧵❄️

The Nordic Retreat sounds wonderful and just what I need right now. I love all things Scandi!!! I have knitted two of the Hat Full of Minis, one for me and one for our dear friend Avocado Fairy. I don't have a pom pom and on Nancy's I did a little I cord and tied it in a knot. I definitely think the darker pom pom as it does suit your colouring and I think two pom poms are better on a square topped hat. Stay safe you lovely people, hope your Mum gets her jab very soon x
@robynknits4 жыл бұрын
You are doing a fantastic job with the two colour hat. Gauge looks perfect and your floats are not too tight or too loose. For your sock - you have 2 extra stitches on either side of the pattern. What you need to do is make sure that the pattern lines up with the pattern on the leg. Put markers in on either side of the pattern section and keep the "extras" outside that section. The designer has assumed that you can adjust and likely should have made adjustments for the different sizes.

What a great giveaway. Love to attend the Nordic Retreat, You absolutely crack me up with your light shenanigans. Your lighting was actually great. That lobster is priceless! How talented. Great to visit with you. Love your podcast.... as always. Double white cute Pom Pom. The hat is whimsical so the double poms are perfect!

How DID I miss #71 and your lovely giveaways???? YIKES! Always great to see ya, and I love the 2 white pom poms - Totally cute! You want to spread joy everywhere like peanut butter, right? So go for the cuteness! Who needs sophistication anyway? I'm too old to care! Love you all from Virginia USA. For the socks, don't have a clue. But I would graph it out on my own paper, and see what works. I'd try to knit 2, do the 3 repeats of the pat, then knit 2 again. I ain't no sock knitter, baby girl, so I could be wrong! But that's what popped into my head, for what it's worth! And, oh yeah, feel free to sing anytime! You couldn't possibly be worse than me, even if you tried really hard.

Love maths on a morning, I think learning too knit before all the lovely indie pattern writers means we probably are use to patterns which have cast on knit a chart if lucky and you spent hours setting up rows for cables and lace with a piece of paper and a sore head. Every stitch not required for the lace should be placed evenly either side : 2 stitches place marker and start lace, place marker 2 stitches left. I put the marker in or lace will wonder. It also means you can place a lace panel anywhere, just the 8 centre stitches if you like that look. Square paper is a blessing as you can draw it and don’t get confused with dpns and yarn it will also let you add lace or cables to your vanilla sock pattern. Good luck, I have just finished a gingerbread hat from midwinter yarns, there yarn is amazing and some good basic colour work 😊🧶

Hi Ali! For your socks I would just add two k sts before starting each row of the chart and add 2 k sts after the last repeat of each row. So that the flowers on the foot line up with the flowers on the leg, just make sure your beginning of round ( or where you started the chart repeats) from the leg matches up with where you start the repeats for the foot. You got this! Lisa

Regarding the socks, my thought would be to pick up the pattern so that the little "flowers" line up and just knit the repeats from there. It will be great to hear what the designer tells you. I hope the rest of your week goes better! (I woke to find a bottle of bleach leaking from a cupboard down onto the counter and down the side of my washing machine and then onto the floor.)Sigh. I'm currently working on a few things for Christmas and my self made advent, it feels good to have a head start on them and hopefully finished by then. I think mitts would be lovely in that yarn. It's been so lovely to visit with you, I've made a few crochet hearts to stuff for Valentines day. Yes, to the Ami-along and double pom-poms for the hat.

Great show Ali. I love your colourwork hat. The colours are amazing together. I think for the Pom Pom predicament to go with the brown one. It really suits the hat. 😁 As for the sock, I would just put 2 stockinette stitches at each end to make up those 4 stitches. However saying that, you may find this stuffs up the layout of the pattern and it will be slightly askew from what you have already knitted.

Great podcast as always. Single dark Pom Pom for sure. As for the socks - if the pattern works around the leg then look at how it’s offset and start where you finished. Imagine the heel isn’t there and start as if it’s the next pattern row and see what happens. Putting 2 stitches on either side may work but it could also skew the pattern. Love the idea of the amigurumi along because I received the Mini Kingdom for Christmas and am itching to make everything in there.
