Just call it the “pointy bit” Zack, we know what ya mean. At the other end it’s the “flat bit” with corners. So as long as the wind is on either cheek and not at ya crack at the helm, then the pointy bit will move along just fine. Love to ya both.

Good idea when sending a tape up a mast tie a extra line to the halyard to pull it back down, 2 reasons tapes are notorious for breaking and 2nd point if the tape is plastic you will stretch it and then it won't be as accurate

I has exactly that tape. It's a quality tool used by the pros, e.g. carpenters, and it's metal, like it should be.

Good tip from the riggers. My fenders are tied to the stanchion base. I can't see the logic in tying them to guardrail when they can undergo huge tension. By the way that handle strap, the handle itself goes through the loop at the end. I got one years ago from Poundland!

You know whilst you are waiting for your 2nd pole to arrive, you can still run wing on wing by swinging out the main boom and running the 2nd headsail sheet through a block on the end of it. (With the mainsail down of course) It can save you a fair bit of wear to the main from the shrouds.
