Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we rean out of money and went home to normal life. We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

I don’t know if someone has already suggested but another way to warm up frozen pipes or to keep yourselves warm is to buy a little heater buddy and you can use the little propane bottles made for the heater or get a big propane tank and a hose to connect from the propane to the buddy heater. In my house, our upstairs bathroom pipes run along the outer wall and we barely have insulation so they freeze easily, we just open the closet that the pipes are in and we put the heater buddy in for 30 mins or so and it warms right up. For my room I use a heater buddy and a propane tank and I crack the door or window so the propane fumes don’t harm me. I know you weren’t asking for advice but just in case you need some for the future, the heater buddy could be a bit too big to have just sitting in the van so.

I feel your pain on your water lines freezing. It happened to us a few times in our tiny house. We learned that we had to completely drain our water system every night or anytime it was going to be below freezing. This was to make sure there was nothing in the lines to freeze. It was annoying but saved us the trouble of not being able to use our water :)

There’s no doubt that having your own skis is helpful both for convenience, time savings, and knowing how the skis will react as you get to know them. For myself, having my own boots is a must. It’s hard to enjoy skiing when your feet hurt.

I'm so happy to see you in Leadville again, I lived there for 10 years in the 90's-00's and really miss it. The ice rink really was a great place to hang. The town and people are the best.
