Really burnt that mercedes doesn't offer the K1 and K2 o rings without buying the new drum. I'm stuck with having to source an old stock SMS kit off ebay or measure the o rings and buy some myself and hope their the right compound. Erling kit does not have these seals.
@GaryFerraro3 жыл бұрын
correct, cannot buy single seals, i'm don't even know anyone that does

Hey Gary, great video! I rebuilt a 722.350 and wanted to ask you a question about tuning shift firmness. When i accelerate at around 2K-2.5K RPM the trans shift smooth. When i accelerate with 3K-3.5K rpm the shift is pretty firm, definitely more firm than the 2K-2.5K situation. I found that if i let off the gas a little before it shifts, the shift is perfect @3-3.5K RPM. I have a new vacuum modulator tuned at 30mph as well as measured the vacuum into the modulator, i think its was around 18.5 which should be enough. Any ideas how to smooth out the shift at higher RPM's?

hi Gary i got the original kit from Mercedes for 722.317 and did not get the seal and screws for the k2 drum . is this something i can get separate if so where ?
@GaryFerraro4 жыл бұрын
maybe google it, it may be sold as a kit, the one i have, i've had for 25 years. The kit would include the screws, the tap, loctite, and i believe the rubber seal, may have drill bit too

Mr. Gary .we can do the same for the D1? and what if I didn't replace the o ring?
@GaryFerraro7 жыл бұрын
Yes, K1 is alittle different, those screws have to be countersunk or they will hit the piston, they actually eliminated the rivets on the K1 drum and now use a snap ring. How are the other rubber o-rings soft? if they are, then you should be ok, im sure there are rebuilders who dont change that o-ring, also, make sure the drum air check ok.

does anyone know of source that tells you the order for the steels and clutches?
@GaryFerraro3 жыл бұрын
for the 2 drums?
@andrewasbill36903 жыл бұрын
@@GaryFerraro Yeah! The K1 and K2 drums but particularly the K2 drum. I bought a replacement drum off of ebay but it was taken apart. So I dont know what order the steels were in.
@andrewasbill36903 жыл бұрын
I know that steels vary in thickness too so I'm not too sure about that either
@GaryFerraro3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewasbill3690 ok are all steels the same thickness? You could also send me pictures gsferraro@yahoo.com

Gary i am rebuilding my 722.320 and have used a m5x10 b olt (europe).Do you think if i torque the bolts enough without the loctite ,do you think the bolts will come out?Greetings Michael
@GaryFerraro7 жыл бұрын
your speaking of the drum correct?
@michanus10927 жыл бұрын
yes the k1 drum is countersunk but on the k2 drum i have used like you a m5x10 allen bolt but without the loctite do you think the bolts can come loose even if i have torqued them enough
@michanus10927 жыл бұрын
To be sure i have bought the blue loctite and wil use that on the bolts (for the k2 that is not countersunk) But anyways thanks for the great videos you post you are a great motivation for most do-it-self rebuilders also in europe.Have given many people your link for transmissions and many have rebuild the transmission with succes.
