Haters gonna hate. I’m an Indian. Miss Nicaragua won fair and square. I like the most of you was rooting for Michelle Dee. Please watch the entire evening gown competition and you’ll know why Miss Dee isn’t in top 5. She was sighing on the stage and was robotic and nervous. MU judges evening gowns by the confidence of women not by the gown designs. Also Miss Thailand is too stiff and robotic for a MU. Nicaragua was personable. She was humble, fierce, bold and beautiful all at the same time. The reaction she gave when she was picked for top 20 and the way she opened the swimsuit competition, I knew hands down she was going to win. For QnA I think there’s surely some advantage using a translator but considering you need to listen to the translator and also actively listen as they’re translating your words, I don’t think its going to relieve you of much stress. Stop hating Asia!

Miss Nicaragua's answer was convincing, refreshing, on point and heartfelt. If it wasn't because of her answer I never would have known who Mary Wollstonecraft was. I did a research on gender equality when I was in college during my final year and Mary Wollstonecraft was one of the feminists that I studied..I was so happy when Miss Nicaragua referenced her in her final question. Although I was originally rooting for Thailand, her swim and evening gown performances were very weak compared to many countries. So I know her speaking skills got her to that 1st runner up place. Let me tell you something I watch a person with a lot experience in MU contest n he said a lot of thing about body language, the way they delivered the question, go back a review miss Thailand performance she look robotic at time not really sure when to turn etc, go back to swimwear and watch her again she doesn’t look confident not smile at time, miss Nicaragua she did that well than the rest n judge look at all those little details, not just the pretty face or answer

The Spanish speakers always gets a chance to think about their answers and talk, talk, talk. So unfair. When asked the question, they should give their answer in one go just like everyone else. That answer could be recorded and the translater tranates it after. They get an unfair advantage.

This is the correct and full translation of Miss Nicaragua's answer. The translator did a very good job but i can understand that because of the crowd as well with the pressure she did not full trasmited to a high loyal level on what Miss Nicaragua said. Here it is: "I would choose Mary Wollstonecraft because she was the first woman that opened the gap for women's rights. For those who say that translation services are an advantage for 90% of the cases it is not, a clear example is Miss Vietnam 2018 an excellent candidate that delivered a very good and complete answer but her translator messed it up. And seriously, the list goes on. I put the answer as it is, so you could see that with using a translator there is a lot disadvantage since the real words are not translated due to the pressure of finding the words, thank God Miss Nicaragua Answer was full of content that did not lose its weight.

She listened in English first, then gave her time to think while the translator took time to translate to her - that is cheating and unfair to other candidates. If Candidates want Spanish, then ask them in Spanish, and answer in Spanish during the required time frame. Translate to others only after she has answered in Spanish. The same rules apply to non-English speakers. That is only fair and transparent.

That would not be fair would be to force the misses whose English is not advanced or who are not directly English speakers to respond in a language that they do not handle and harm their response in that way. Women who are not from an English-speaking country, who do not have the privilege of an international education, should they be left at a disadvantage? I think Thailand should’ve shown more enthusiasm. Maybe she was overconfident since she had just won another beauty contest. Aside from that, her swim and night suits were not the greatest. Nicaragua went with a winners attitude and wore better attire. On top of that, Nicaragua had one of the best sculptured bodies in the competition. Nicaragua deserved the crown!

I think Thailand is not overconfident. I guess she was just being too nervous cause she has always be the top favorite to win that crown. Maybe the pressure get to her. I think she did a quite decent job here, but just not excellent enough.

@@coldenbluu I noticed all MU winners delivered confidence throughout the final competition, I do not recall any one of them being nervous. At the most they were humble and self effacing. Thailand was holding back, like she was afraid to make a false move or a mistake. She and the Philippines lacked the spontaneity that Nicaragua has. I have heard a lot of people said she gave a better performance in he national pageant than at MU. Nicaragua by comparison was consistent.
