By saying “The universe rather” she showed that she has a presence of mind, meaning she was thinking of the question properly and not just giving nonsense or empty answers.

You can clearly see why Philippines won, she gave a most respectful, humble and realistic answer. Not to mention, you can tell by body language which one cared more about winning by showing they cared about their looks. Miss Philippines was more worried about her answer and didn’t care to have her hands on her hips and wasn’t too smiley bc that’s not what makes a miss universe. Colombia was all over herself and cared more about her looks at that moment. USA was overall excited but didn’t give much thought to her answer beforehand. Colombia was more “all about me” and being a latin woman makes you miss universe and said that she should just win bc she had all the attributes a latin women has. USA said what needed to be said but gave the most generic answer instead of a realistic solution to something she cares about. I’m a latin women and I can tell which one genuinely cared to represent their country with poise, kindness, smarts, respect and compassion throughout the whole ordeal. Miss Philippines is the only true winner! ❤

According to Pia, joining many pageants has prepared her for that question. Actually, that question is one of the (if not THE) most frequently asked questions in Philippine pageantry. I was actually surprised why, in the final Q&A, they would ask a question so basic like that one.

You know why they lost over Miss Philippines? It’s because they focused on themselves saying, I have the quality of a latin woman, able to, so on and so forth. Unlike Miss Philippines, she started by saying becoming Miss Universe is both great honor and a responsibility, then she continued saying that she will use her role to influence the youth and bring about awareness to certain causes like HIV, which is true. Then she said, she wanted to show all of us that all woman are beautiful with a heart. That is why, she won.

Out of them 3 Philippines gave out the most realistic and achievable answer. The others just wished they were fairies spreading love and cheer to the world. A miss universe can only do so much you might as well establish a concrete plan if you win!

True! Philippines’ answer was about what she can do for the organization, instead of what the organization can do for her. Her answer didn’t focus on herself. USA’s answer was ok. But was not realistic. Colombia’s answer was filled with so much narcissism. Being Latina doesn’t equate to getting the crown. She should have been 2nd runner up.

Well, it’s just now I’ve heard the answers of these three ladies one after another. And it’s clear as day that Philippines had the winning answer here because her answer is very selfless. She didn’t focus on her attributes but on what she could do and achieve being a Miss Universe rather than her personal attributes. The other two just blew their trumpets. Gosh! First of all Sorry for my English. Philippines has always prepared and trained for all possible questions for The Miss Universe Pageant, every Philippines delegates to Miss Universe was able to practiced especially for the questions and answers. For her she knew and able to focus the slogan of Miss Universe which "Confidently Beautiful" then she added more to be more realistic the word "with a Heart" she was thinking the answer with the BANG/WINNING LINE at the end of her answer people will always be remembered that line not only thank you at the end of the statement. She said that if you got to the battle you must be prepared the strategy why should I win, before hand she has always been thinking of winning "WHY SHOULD I" thats why she got easy to answer the question, in first opening line she was not able to described/describing herself, but more on what she was able to do or what she gonna do if she win, she've learned how to sloganised and she has to captured her answer perfectly.

USA - Good answer but very general. She wants to empower people especially woman but how? Should be 1st Runner Up. Colombia - Latina.. Latina.. Colombia.. Colombia.. blah blah blah!!! She’s full of herself. Deserves the 2nd Runner Up. Philippines - Best answer. Speaks from the heart. Gave examples on how she will help others. Ends her answer in an impactful way. Winner!!! 👑

Colombia's answer is not good because reaction of audience is not good as pia answer so in my opinion she must place as 2nd runner-up only then she is expecting the winner I don't think so

USA - i’m passionate and driven Colombia - i’m a Latina Philippines - i will do this Philippines won because she focused less on herself and more about the responsibility. She was the only one who said what she will do for the organization with specific actionable plans. She stated what she can do for the organization, not what the organization can do for her. USA should have been at least 1st runner up. Her answer was better than Colombia. Colombia’s answer was very self-centered. In my opinion, she should have been 2nd runner up.
