Turkish sould fly twice weekly service to Tampa to try the market. Many people in the TPA market have to go to Miami requiring a jumper flight or Orlando with a big drive southeast Asia and Australia/ New Zealand are desired locations to connect to.

I flew Turkish Airlines 2 years ago because they were the cheapest. I wasn't expecting much. I was astonished how great it was as its better than Qantas. Also the catering was wonderful. I had a stopover in Istanbul and now consider it the second best place for shopping (China is the best).

Non-stop to Istanbul makes more sense than London for anybody who is going to Europe instead of the UK. Turkish will be able to offer a same airline service to almost every major city in Europe.

Just booked from Melbourne. Stops both ways in Singapore.

@jjaus The non-stop flights are planned for when they get their A350-1000 aircraft. Until then they will be doing one-stops through Singapore for flights from Melbourne. The stop in Singapore is a better location than the QANTAS stop in Perth.

@@jjaus Even in Perth it would be better if it was leaving from the International Terminal. The International section of the Qantas Terminal is awful for anyone without access to the Qantas Club.

It's been a while since I've been to Perth, but when I was there domestic and international were different terminals on opposite sides of the airport. Last time I flew to Europe was Qatar, non-stop to Doha. Then London. Can't beat that from Melbourne at least. I would have flown them again, but they were at least $3K more in business class. Don't mind the stop in SIN for that much.

TK612, which departed Entebbe International Airport for Istanbul on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 07.14 hours with 259 people on board, was unable to proceed to its final destination due to safety precautions. The A333 aircraft successfully returned and landed at Entebbe International Airport at 10.50 hours after safely circling Ugandan airspace (areas of Northern Kampala) for over 3 hours to reduce fuel to the required safe landing weight. The precautionary measures taken are standard safety procedures in the aviation industry. All the passengers and crew were safely disembarked.
