You guys are right of course that RAM air does not actually enter the bleed air system, but is used exclusively for cooling bleed air in the heat exchanges. I should probably take a few more days off youtube and actually off anything after 5 days of work, landing around 2AM every time.

Pmdg really needs to simulate cabin crew complaining about the temperature

Followed by the proper QRH response of putting on the oxygen mask, confirm at or above 15000, and turn both packs to off

As long as they use real voices and not TTS that's fine. Flightfactor (a subpar developer for another major Flight Simulation platform) tried doing this once but tried using humour with a TTS voice causing people to incorporate killing him at the start of the flight.

Enjoying these detail descriptions of each system. Great job.

I totally agree with Arto of the misleading description of Ram Air function. It is only as a cooling medium to cool the hot air across the primary heat exchange not to be introduced into the conditioned airflow to cabin. Also as he stated if further cooling required the supplied airflow is routed the Air cycle Machine for its cooling functions. This is by no means a de-merit point because of all your previous videos of high calibre and sound info, so please accept it as critique not as criticism. Prost

I'd recommend you'd re-check the beginning of the video where you describe the pack function as this is somewhat misleading explanation. Ram air is not introduced into the air conditioning flow, it flows through the heat exhangers only. All the air flowing into the air conditioning system comes from the bleed air alone. Simplified, the hot air is the part of the bleed air that bypasses the pack. And the cold air is the part that is cooled by the primary heat exchanger, then re-heated by the pack compressor, then cooled again by the secondary heat exhanger and then further cooled by powering the pack turbine, which in turn powers the pack compressor. The ram air is simply used as a heat exchange medium in the heat exchangers, all of it comes in from the ram air inlets and gets dumped overboard after going through the two heat exchangers where no mixing of the air flows take place.

Agree with Arto. No outside air is introduced into the airplane. The air cycle machine is really best described as a turbocharger that you would find in your car. A compressor side and turbine (expansion) side in conjunction with the 2 heat exchangers.

yes, I know very little about 737, but looking and the illustration, the explanation didn't match what I was seeing

Just to add upon my previous, indeed, no intent to be critical at all! I find this content by you Emmanuel quite brilliant, and exactly what we need to get players turn into simmers - and perhaps one day, real life aviation professionals, flying or not. Very easily approachable, and even if simplified, still not dumbed down. A difficult balance to get right. The reason I had to shoot a feedback was just to simply because from experience, of all the major systems in an aircraft, the packs and the air con (interacting with the pressurization) are easily on any short list of subjects fundamentally not properly understood. Thus, just wishing to avoid any seeds of misunderstanding from the beginning for anyone starting their journey from here on! Great content, keep it coming!

hi captain, you r amazing, thnk you so much for the contents, Im in lifus and Im learning better with your videos. I want to ask you some questions captain and if you can answer that would be awasome because I cant find anywhere. 1-Primary and standby electronic control funtions? What do day do exactly? We have pack valve but also primary and standy pack control valves ,If pack overheat occurs we already have sensor in down stream of mix manifold and also if we lose both of them fcom says pack continous to operate without temprature control. Its really challing to understand their functions. 2- Also Left and right electronic controller are the same thing as primary and stand by controller? What do they do and also confusing thing is , if we we lose flight deck trim air…does that sentence mean right elecktronic controller failed because fcom also says right electronic controller controls flight deck and forward cabin temparature . Im really confused about this electronic units plz enlighten me . Thank you so much captain

Thank you. I knew how to ask the stewardess for more air. OMG. I am now a very well educated passenger. It would be awesome if you zoomed in so I could read your screen. Is there any pressure from management for the pilots to keep the system in auto for fuel consumption?
@A330Driver

No such pressure at all, simply follow the FCOM procedures.

you said to set the temp to 28-30c? Most people are comfortable around 21C. 28C is WAY to warm...
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 2 жыл бұрын
I said I set the temperature *indication* to 28C. In a 737 that's not exactly the same as the *actual* temperature at 28C LOL As said in earlier videos... this thing has air conditioning like a 1960s car. And they had none.
