I think the best way to come up with good music is to harmonize a simple tune, until it sounds fine. Cut away all the harmony but keep a copy of it, redo the process. You'll end up with something different, see what works, see what doesn't. Join them together in a jigsaw fashion. Keep polishing until you got a good A and B section. Add fat to it, cut away, add fat to it, cut away. And also to make note of genre specific tropes like, percussion, a solo, minimalism, how the left hand is working on a piano piece etc.

Where are these interviews that he’s asked about Stickerbush or Aquatic Ambience? It killed me that those were skipped over 😂 I doubt David would’ve minded. Btw I love this man. He changed my life with the music he made for those damn monkey games.

I love how much of a normal average guy David Wise is. You ask him these questions on how he made his tracks and how he gets inspired to do them and he’s just like “ya so I started and just kinda went on with it ya know”

Into “HEX” what exactly does that mean? Is there a video where it explains that process? I have no intention of learning haha I am just curious.

if all culture were to perish in armageddon and i could only save one playlist, this would be it: castlevania’s simon bellmont’s theme [the arcade]; a few anime openings, including pokemon and fullmetal alchemist; too many first-party nintendo themes to mention, i guess i’d need to pick just ten or so of them; finale of mozart’s symphony in e flat; beethoven’s 9th and his moonlight sonata; vivaldi’s four seasons; tchaikovski’s swan theme; and tropical freeze’s amiss abyss. thank you so much David Wise!!!
