And all in record time for a whole new aircraft that has since not been beaten. Even the DC-10 which wasn’t developed as quickly and was troublesome and whilst some early 747’s had that cargo door issue the structure itself was sound and with the unparalleled safety Joe installed it was why UA 811 was able to reach its destination as had it been a DC-10 it would not have made it because of the cut costs with safety McDonald Douglas did

The Queen lives on. Today, I fly her on freight operations all over the world. I can tell you that the 747 has so many redundancies, that we can have multiple system failures and still continue to destination. She is a fantastic machine and I feel very fortunate to fly her, hopefully until my retirement.

Hey my brother, I just want to let you know you are not alone. My mom went Home To Glory too. It was in 2021, I am the one who agreed with the doctors to take her off of life support. Grief & Loss is a process. We are encouraged to take as long as we want to reach acceptance. My mom 20 year old woman when she got married and then gave me life. She was with me in life through my education, and my career in the US Marines. During your entire video I noticed a lot of clouds in the sky. I thought about your mom watching you from above. Keep on keeping on my brother because God and your mom got you. When I hit the road on my 2016 HD Ultra Limited I will include you in my traveling mercy prayers. Stay blessed. James

A380 is a commercial failure and it's almost retired from all airlines. While the 747 is still flying.
@eliteiel97473 ай бұрын
@@ArielCacha It's coming back hard tho. Also doubt it was a failure, mightve cost them money, but won them a lot more. Trust and reputation and probably a lot of development that wont have to be done for other jets. In all the a380 surely played a role in growing airbus. They grew from 15 to 50% market share during the a380 era
@ArielCacha3 ай бұрын
@@eliteiel9747 You may be right about Airbus reputation, but I hardly doubt it was just due to the a380. If it wasn't a commercial failure they would still make them, and production stopped a while ago after just 12 years. The problem of this plane is, it's designed to work on big airport hubs, and neither the US (that never ordered a plane) or the EU uses that system anymore. Now it's all about direct flights with smaller planes. I read about some airlines bringing it back but it's because of the delays of new aircraft (b777x and a350). Once they are delivered I'm sure they will retire them again.

My first flight in a Boeing 747 was a South African flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Johannesburg, South Africa in April 1985. For political reasons the airline, South African Airways, was not allowed to overfly Africa. Instead it circumvented the black continent to the west, stopping over for refuling in Ilhal Dol Sal on the Cap Verde Islands. The striking feature was the extra wide cabin. Twice as wide as before. Then the take-off run was extra long.

Watching these 2000s style TV documentaries makes me realize how far some youtube documentary makers have come. This is still a great documentary, don't get me wrong. I didn't know we could improve. But damn, we did.
@ybet10003 ай бұрын
I don't see why? Sure the video quality isn't as good but you can't expect it to be.. To me, the quality of the audio ( which is fine ) and video ( old but fine ) are not as important as the "story" ie..the staying on topic .. the lack of DEI infusions etc.. they create drama by outlining problems and how they solve them .. the constant risk overhanging the project ...it, to me, is suspenseful and exciting .. it seems superior to most modern youtude uploads ( to me ) . I am proud of what these dudes achieved.. aren't you? They changed air flight by putting everything they had at risk... from the head of boeing, the pilots etc etc ..This , imho is a great US success story...My question is why do you feel the modern ones are superior?
@TheSwanies3 ай бұрын
@@ybet1000 It's a great documentary which is doing a good job at making the audience feel the pressure Boeing was under, yes! I agree, this is a core aspect of a good documentary - sufficiently telling us what's as stake such that we sit glued to the TV wanting to know how it turned out. Not all KZbinr-made documentaries have this level, which is why i wrote "some". What you will see however, is that certain creators really outdo themselves with visuals and storytelling elements that you don't really see in the oldschool TV documentaries.

I frequently took the SAA Jumbos from Johannesburg to and from London. As kids we would go to the then Jan Smuts Airport to see the jumbos arrive and depart. Spectacular. And when I first boarded one, wow. The future now! I remember a slight tension the first time taking off. It seemed impossible that such a giant could lift off. And of course it could, seemingly effortlessly. A particular favourite was a London-New York-London flight on Pan Am 747, in 1985. The two were made for each other. Now I see why.
